Punjabi Music.....
I am still sweating from the experience two weeks ago , when the First Sardar of Chennai (Surjit Singh Barnala) requested Fateh Ali and his Son for a Punjabi song , barely 45 minutes into a much awaited Concert at Academy.
That opened the flood gates for the Younger Ali ,who went on to give the Chennai Audience a taste of Punjabi Flavoured Thukkadas , for the rest of the concert.
And as the whistles started getting louder and the Drunken ones , braver, it became a vicious circle.More of the foot tapping- Mast Qalandar- Stuff leading to more whistles and claps.
Well here is a concoction with which I hope to make amends with Sbala , who had accepted my invitation to hear a legend.

Starts with ghazal-film song combination of that famous lad from Jalandhar , who kept a whole generation spell bound.KL Saigal..(have we heard a better voice than his,in all these years ?)
Moves on to a soul stirring Sufi rendering by Barkhath Sidhu in Shivranjini
(BTW -the Ruhaniyath troupe is making its rounds again , through all the metros ,right now.
Interested members should watch out for the ads in your local papers)
And then a great ghazal by Haider Bakshi.
Track closes with a mind boggling extract from a Tappa rendering of Malini Rajurkar at a concert in Davangere.
And Gobilalitha
Here is a Punjabi Track that can act as a balm for all your aches.Part of a bigger video from Punjab TV - great Camera Work , great singing (Bhimpalas?)
and a great atmosphere at the Golden Temple.

coolkarni sir, thanks for your special attention to me. I AM 76 YEARS OLD . do not have much of computer knowledge , do not even type with both hands, my ability is to hear songs readily available just by a click. like a lazy man asking somebody to peel the skin of a banana and give it for eating, what I mean is a readily available song at a click without the hassles of uploading etc,if posted will be very helpful. yes I also have the same feeling abou the immortal ,golden voiced KLS. WIIL THERE BE ANOTHER ONE LIKE HIM ? there is a story about him . once a producer asked him to come to his house at malabar hills, mumbai , the great singer after his usual quota in a bar ,forgot the street's name ., after reaching malabar hill area . he got an idea .. he began to sing main kya jaanon a large crowd collected ,mesmerised by his voice .they took him to the Producer's house . sorry for taking much of your valuable time gobilalitha
