Second Annual Rasikapriya Award
Rasikas
It gives me great pleasure to announce the title Rasikapriya to Sri
Lakshman Ragade.
Rasikas, budding musicians and practising musicians in the Carnatic
World have all benefited from the largesse displayed by Sri Ragade.
His database of krithis and other compositions cross referenced by
raga, composer is legendary. But his willingness to share that with
others in the remotest corners of the world - with no possible rewards
or personal gain - makes him a bright star in our galaxy. Since the
inception of the worldwide web, the carnatic music community has grown
- not in just numbers but in the level of knowledge, enjoyment by all
- entirely due to the service rendered by Rasikapriya's like Sri
Ragade.
By according such a recognition, our group grows richer and stronger.
Thank you so much Sri Ragade for being a part of our group and helping
us all.
An irony of the internet age is that we do not exactly know where Sri
Ragade resides. This is a request to rasikas who are personal
acquaintances of Sri Ragade to contact me and provide some contact
information. I have corresponded with Sri Ragade by email but would
like to converse.
regards,
Moderators or and on behalf of the rasikapriya-dot-net group and the
sangeethapriya site.

Congratulations Sri Lakshman and accept my pranAmas at this happy time.
Sri Lakshman has been constant help for me for more than 12 years in various fora - Forumhub, Sangeetham.com, Carnatica and now on Rasikas. Any sAhitya or notation I have asked, he has come up with in no time. I am really short of words to thank him!
For those (like me) who have never met him, can I request his picture to be featured on Rasika forum front page ? (Of course with his permission?) at this time?

Congratulations, sangeethapriya for choosing another richly deserving recipient for the rasikapriya award! With the two awards so far, you have proved that you are excellent in your choice.
Lakshman's service to CM in the past decades is well known, indeed. Of the riches he has gathered over the years by dedication and sheer hard work, he unflinchingly gives, whether the request is from a casual singer or a serious musician. If you asked him how he manages to do this, all you would get is a shy little smile from him.
Lakshman,
Even though it is your mission, and awards make no difference to you, we on our part are all proud about your receiving this honor. I am sure your wife and your family are too. I hope you would take a graceful bow (graceful, you certainly are) and accept the award by letting sangeethapriya contact you in the first place

Lji,
Congratulations. You have made a lot of difference in helping all of us understand what an oceanic experience is carnatic music .
On a private note, when I came back to chennai , the first thing I did is to take up a print out of your melakartha rAgas and janya list pages of karnatik.com , spiral bound those pages and use to write all the songlist for few years in the left blank side .

In this world, in the kaliyuga, only a select few have a genuine mind to help others without any return. Lakshmanji is a 'Paropahari' and has made countless no. of rasikas feel grateful to him. Even though I am a new member and yet to avail his help, it made me wonder 'who is this walking encyclopaedia '.I am really awed by his service and Mr. A. M. Sharma who find joy through helping others. The joy he derives from helping others is much more than the joy from receiving an award.
My way of 'congratulating' him is, "LET US PASS IT ON".

Here is a more tangible way of expressing my gratitude to my compatriot Lakshman as also on behalf of his close friends here at the Forum on the occasion of the second Rasikapriya Award.
Raga: Navarasakannada
P: rasikapriyaM lakShmaNaM bhAvayE
karNATaka sa^NgIta sEvA nirataM
AP: vAgdEvI k^RipA pAtraM
vidvat vitaraNa caturaM
sa^NgIta k^Riti kOshaM
sArva rasika janArthaM
C: himagiri sad^Risha 'Canada' vAsinaM
rasika h^Rid bAlAtapa sEvanaM
prabala sa^ngItapriya stambhaM
bhavatu shatavarShOpari sa^NgIta nabha bhAskaraM
Substance
Let us cherish 'Rasikapriya LakShmaN' , one who is devoted to the service of Carnatic Music.
He is blessed by Goddess Sarasvati and is one engaged in disseminating that knowledge to students (We all know Lakshman is a retired teacher). He is the repository of the CM Kritis (not for himself) but for the benefit of the Rasika and performing community. (Lakshman spends his time and personal resources to collect hard-to-get kritis from all over the world for dissemination to the CM community).
He lives in Canada which is like the snow-capped Himalayas (but is not bothered by the chill since) he basks in the heart-warming tender sunshine of the Rasikas. He is the staunch support of the CMLovers. May he live on in excess of over hundred years resplendent like the Sun in the Carnatic Music firmament!
And of course here is my primitive attempted audio
http://rapidshare.com/files/70923986/Ra ... 2.mp3.html
It will be nice if any of our performer members would oblige singing it for us!
Hats off pal! And three cheers to you!
(If possible pl mail me a picture of yourself which I can include here!)

CML,
A full throated, heart felt ode to Lakshman, rasikapriyA and our sakhA in CM appreciation.
Bravo, CML! You speak and sing for us all.
I hear he is on vacation now. When he comes back to his desk to start his nitya karmA of serving rasikAs with lyrics, a thousand cheers to him (or more, considering the number of his beneficiaries)...
