An Australian scientist has developed an audio database that allows the user to hum a tune into a microphone and then come up with a list of songs that match the tune!

Wouldn't that be great for Carnatic music where we could just hum "naa naa na na na na naa na naa" and come up with "vathapi ganapathim"!

Great! The author says

Currently, the technology can only search for simple MIDI files, but Dr Uitdenbogerd said MP3 compatible software would be her next goal.

Here is a fertile area for our computer wizards like Arun to explore the application to CM!
