It is passing strange my Mother that as you celebrate your ShaShTyabdapUrti (60th Birthday) your Son has crossed seventysix!
Oh Mother! Let me bow my head and beg of you this only final boon; being born again and again (if I must) let me be in your lap (house hold)!

Happy 60th Birthday Mother India

Dear CML and other cm devotees,
It is but appropriate to greet MOTHER INDIA on the occasion of Sashti abdapUrtti. In this regard I wish to remind every one to view and listen to the two patriotic songs I composed earlier and posted in the website karnatik.com. Their individual link references are given below
(1) unakkiNai nIyE Bharata thAyE-(calanaTTai)www.karnatik.com/c3496.shtm
l
(2) sanAtana dharma samvardhini-desh)www.karnatik.com/c3498.shtml
sunAdapriyE jaya bhmAratha janani
The above were already popularised Smt.Raji Gopalakrishnan and Selvi SM.Vilasani
Raji Gopalakrishnan had sung the first one at the music academy concert during the millennium year.

Very nice tribute Ramraj!
Both songs are arthagarbhitam and very nicely sung!
Certainly worth singing at the concerts on this auspicious day!
Congratulations!

CMl ji,
Thank u for your kind words. In this connection it my not be out of place to mention about an incident that took place some years back. When the calanata kriti in praise of Bharata matha was sung by me, to Mr.TRS, (he was actually bedridden due to some neurological ailment)
when I met with him at his house,he suddenly rose up (as if fully recuperated and expressed thus:- "Music beyond doubt , is divine and your rendition has , more than the medication, has served as an elixir and that I really feel to have grown younger"!!!.And Smt.Raji Gopalakrishnan sang the item commomearating the millennium year at the Music Academy.End even during the book realese function(INNISAI PAMAALAI) he made a special request to Mr.Raji to inclue this piece in her concert (7.12.0007) following the book release function. One Mr.Arun Chandrasekar , critic, wrote about this in the Carnatica.com website. This has been reproduced in our forum -Ref.Vageyakara thread-Kramaraj-page no 3. titling SRUTHILAYABHAAVA NIRATE
Please go thru this .
And selvi SM Vilasini ( whose concert review is yet to appear in this forum) in her scintillating performance yesterday13.8.2007, again sang this piece and the raskas'
response was overwhelming.

CML, ShaShTyabdapUrtti - OK nice word to use for one phase of her life but it is only one phase. What would be the right prefix or suffix to indicate that it is just one phase of her life?

Ramaraj Sir, a fitting tribute to Mother India. A great day indeed! 60 years have brought some moments of darkness but also, I'd like to believe, many more of joy...and as we walk towards reclaiming our glorious past, let us hope that this statistical milestone gives us travellers, a moment's pause for our weary feet. And the strength to negotiate the long, winding road ahead....

CM, through Bharathiar and MS, has been an integral part of this struggle. SSI too was a staunch Gandhian. What are the other associations of CM with the freedom movement? I believe Kalki was a great fan of CM...as I am sure, were many eminent freedom fighters.

Perhaps the word you are lookinf for is 'EkadEsha' (a part or one side of). For us indeed Our Mother is a 'nitya yuvati' (eternal youth) and a 'kumArI' (Virgin). Counting 60years is an ancient tradition since we have the 60-year cycle of years.

Ramraj

That was a nice piece of story. Do post Vilasini 's rendering too if possible!

Following vijay I earnestly wish to request that Performers make it a point to sing "Patriotic' CM songs in the concerts. Of course Bharati songs are aplenty as also there will be the incentive for vaggeyakaras to come up with songs on new patriotic current themes (notably like that of our Ramraj). National Integration and Fostering our common identity is a must in this Balkanized world and let us (both Vidvans and Rasikas) take a solemn resolve!

EnRum kumariyAm bArata annai aDiyiNai tozhuvOm!
(We worship at the feet of Mother India who eternally rejuvenates herself).

The great song 'SAnti nilava vENDum' is highly popular among performers. They could sing other songs too on bhArata mAtA and her illustrious sons by bhArati and others. Go to the technical section and find CML's song on the mahAtmA. I think it
is a nice alternative.
Could someone find it and post the thread, page and the post's number? Thanks. Who knows? Some performer might pick it up and there will be a little more of national heritage woven into the concerts...
