The usual national anthem clip played before movies at theaters in Mumbai [atleast at the PVR chain] has been replaced by a new arrangement by AR Rahman. While at a movie yesterday, one image jumped out at me while the national anthem was being played - at 3:29 in the linked clip, the beautiful smile of DKP Amma appears. A host of eminent musicians are featured in this clip, which is a pleasure to watch, but the expession on DKP Amma's face has me watching it over and over again. Pure 'tEjas'.

I would guess from personal experience of this type of terrain that it's somewhere in Ladakh or Himachal Pradesh.

Prashant,
Thank you. Wherever the film was shot, the anthem brings to us the spirit of the entire land, from the Himalayas to the Cape. Yes, DKP's smile lights up the screen, as she lit national fervor in us with her singing bharati's hymns. Other greats too bring a sense of unity with the magic of their music. A fitting sixtieth Independence Day tribute orchestrated by Rahman...
