CML/DRS/Anyone else:
I have always wondered about the following scenario and how it could be explained without recourse to incest!
Now, BU(mI) dEvI is vishNU's consort, and ANDAL is thought to be BU dEvI incarnate. And isn't angAraka one of the navagrahas, their son (mangaLa vAram BUmi kumAram...)?
How can sItA (adrijA, kshitijA, BUmijA) be vishnU's consort in rAmAvatAram? I personally prefer the story that she is the abandoned offspring of rAvaNA!
Ravi
Explanations, Please!

Reminds me of the (hAsya) sanskrit shlOka:
utphullEndIvarAkShI shashadharavadanA bibhratI shubrakAntiM
gatvA'sau rAjadhAnIM dasharathamavadat kaikayI kOpayuktA |
rAjA rAmAbhiShEkAd viramatu sahasA niShkaLa^NkE kulE'smin
bhUputrI yasya patnI sa bhavati kathaM bhUpati rAmacandraH ||
(A lovely lady came to the darbar of Dasharatha and said that KaikEyI was very angry and wanted the abhiShEkam of Rama to be stopped instantly since in that it was a stainless (pure) royal family, how could Rama the husband of the daughter of Goddess Earth (bhUputrI) become the Lord of Goddess Earth (bhUpati)!)
A nice shlOka fit to have been rendered by MDR with his characteristic humour
Maybe a poor consolation...

meena
it is standard practice to do a phalatyAga (sacrifice of the fruits of actions) by saying 'idam na mama' (this is no llonger mine)! Our Lord says:
"brahmaNyAdAya karmANi sa^NgaM tyaktvA karoti yaH|
lipyatE na sa pApEna padmapatramivAmbhasA||' (Gita 5.10)
" he who acts placing all actions in the Lord abandoning attachment, is unaffected by sin as a lotus leaf by water"
Of course the shlOka is not mine! (If only kaikayi knew it ahead of time she would not have wasted one of her boons
