sangeetarasikan,
Quite an inspiring essay from Kiranavali. Kudos to guru/parent Narasimhan. My respect for him grows after hearing it all from his daughter (student). Kiranavali's accounts about a family dedicated to CM brings one man's love for music and for his children to focus. We admire the mother (alas, she is no more), for her being the Sakti of the family. Reminds me of the story when my friend's father--a distinguished american painter--was dedicated to his art and when he could not paint with a mundane job in a wall paper company, his wife managed her family of five children without his earnings, let him paint all day in a studio at the back of the house and letting the children realize that until their father came to the house in the evening, he was not to be disturbed. A life partner who let her husband's art flourish, at all odds.
The photographs in Kiranavali's article are a treat too.
Thank you.

An intersting and inspiring article. I am amazed to see Shri.Narasimhan's dedication and sacrifices that will be hard for many other parents to even come close to.

A genuine example of how a prodigy is groomed. Always wondered how a 2 or 3 year old identified ragams and talams. It is indeed the dedicated and patient parent who groom these future torch bearers.
