Not really!
Though a paNN and CM raga may share identity they may not share the same gamaka pattern. Overall they may sound the same but the subtle differences have to be teased out.
Arun's gamaka software (which is a boon for modelling) will help to look at these subtle differences if we have good quality authentic recordings.
Hence the secondment!

Vijayalakshmi Rajaram , student of Sankara Iyer has also been a student of Thevara Thirumuraigal and seems to be well- versed in indicating the equivalent of carnatic ragas in Tamil Pann. Probably her association might help

Thanjavur Sankara Iyer had given two concerts - i) thevaram and Trinity and ii) Thevaram and Thyagaraja -
Thevaram in Tamil Pann and a trinity's kriti in equivalent carnatic Raga -- some identical and some with minor differences. The concerts were probably to show the influence of Tamil Pann in the development of carnatic music

Can you share some more about Thanjavur Shri Sankara Iyer's concert and share any recording of it?
