This is indeed a great loss for many fields. For Prof. S.K.Ramachandra Rao was renowned not only as a psychologist but also as a musicologist, iconologist, indologist and SAstra and purANa expert. He was conferred the title of "sangIta kalAratna" by the prestigious Bangalore Gayana samaja. He was a kannaDa and samskRta scholar. I have had the good fortune of meeting him perosnally in his house. He authored the book "Sritattva nidhi"- (a gist of the original work) aand published it. He also published several other books from the Kalpatharu Academy- including the Encyclopaedi of Indian Iconography and the SrIvidyAkOSa He has also publsihed scores of other SAstra and purANa texts. He also wrote extenxively on music. He was a skilled srtict and his pencil sketches of olden day musicians and a brief biographical write up on these artistes was regularly published in the kannada music journal "ananya abhivyakti". He also wrote the preface/munnuDi for Sri. Anantharama Udupa`s book containing the all the compositions and notations of MD kRtis. He als wrote extensive notes on each kRti in this book.
He will be deeply missed. May his soul rest in peace.

Even though he belonged to the Madhva school of philosophy, he had great knowledge about Advaitha Siddhanta and ShriVidya, which is well evidenced by his book on ShriVidya (mentioned by DRS), which is literally a treatise on the Bhavanopanishad. He was also greatly devoted to Jagadguru Shrimad Chandrashekhara Bharathi MahaSwamin of Sringeri Peetam, with whom he had the rare opportunity of interacting many times and has also penned his biography: Sharada Peetada Manikya.
