I've complained in the past about KGS' exorbitant ticket rates. What I perhaps failed to mention was the beautiful auditorium they've built - and I suppose Yagnaraman deserves a bulk of the credit.
He was indeed a great man. A very unique quality he had was to manually prepare a big spread sheet (like today's xcel) to plan a festival well in advance, write post card or inland letter to each and every artiste asking for confirmation. (I believe most of the sabha secretaries do not directly talk or write to each and every artiste nowadays) His memory power was an amazing one. Any genuine recommendations he used to acknowledge and provide the right opportunity. Ofcourse he had a great innings, did complete his family and social committments well in time and has reached the divine abode as a blessed soul.
Very true, carnatic_lover. He was a gem of a person and I have had the chance to move with him. But for him, a lot of today's top ranking artistes would not have even made it to the music circuit. May his soul rest in peace.
