Huge loss. I guess the last of the Tiger clan.

He has left behind a substantial legacy of scholarship and musical knowledge, including renderings of so many compositions, and many (his students and near and dear of course, but many many more) will remember him with respect and affection. Had the privilege of meeting him, through people from this forum, for which I am thankful.

SRJ mama personality was so unique and he primarily just not helped musicians but also rasikas like me to take significant baby steps to understand far more this oceanic carnatic music. Recollecting few of that randomly
1. His oration skills was so strong ,one felt i was watching and hearing a commentary of andha kalathu Australian commentators in a benson and hedges cricket match . He spoke with conviction and his choice of words especially in English was far far ahead than almost all of the musicologist. All his narrations were direct with both process of how he arrived and also the assertive conclusions. CM has way too many mystic stories ,but i did not hear that much from him.
2. I bought a book in early 2006 2010 era called Ragas at a Glance written by him , it was very dear to me then. I used to refer to it and always felt there is so much to understand each of the ragas from that book . Atleast prior to 2010 timeframe it was so handy
3. Atleast 3 or 4 lectures i may have attended , was that a separate lecture or a tag line that he always says .That line is "Caught by Dikshitar Taught by Thyagaraja" , they were so brilliant to understand the nuance. Also some lecdems on eka krithis of sadguru were fascinating. His lecdems were minimal in Dec season (partha sabha) but usually lot of his lectures from North America is floating in the web or sangeethapriya , i recollect vaguely now on that , he once talked about 72 melaragamalika of Maha vaidhyanatha sivan which is impressive and so detailed .
4. HE was the guru of Aishwarya Venkatraman (violinist from LA) , once he attended her concert that was held i think in Prema Rangarajan/Rangarajan house that was organized by rasikas team of Coolkarni and team.
5. Once there was just 10 minus of us in a concert in egmore kalakruthi. I went for a tadepalli lokanadha sharma concert, TLS sang a rare NanAti Bratuku (annamacharya krithi) in the ragam subhapantuvarali (MS amma made it famous with revati but TLS sang in subhapantuvarali), SRJ was weeping next to me when subhapantuvarali neraval was on, that was way too detailed - i did not weep SRJ wept.
SRJ was born in 1928(Same year as Maharajapuram Santhanam), always feel like saying this to any one who is close to 100, i wish he had lived 2 more years to make the world think bit more on his taught /caught of Thayagaraja/Dikshitar tagline that i think he only created .
I do know that few of his family members have significantly contributed to rasikas.org , condolence to few and all his extended sishya parampara.

Om Shanti. Recalling with fondness his lec. dems. in the U.S : Cleveland, Chicago, Columbus Ohio, in the years 2002 - 2004 sometime then. The last one where I was part of the Org. when we organized it. Many were still sceptical of our readiness to do Lec. Dems. Somehow it happened anyway. His rendition of dyAnamE - dhanyAsi that day in Columbus was a thing to remember.
Sincere condolences to his sons who live in the U.S and I suppose Vidya his daughter -in-law posted in this forum once. She along with one Sri PP Narayanaswamy published the SSP English - am I correct?
