Few Positive to Extreme Positive points

1.Pada varnam is sahithya structural creation , you have sahithya passage for every section .This composition came out exceptionally well kind of tracing the playful krishna to different stages of Lord Krishna. This ragam brindavana saranga/brindavani is one of my favourites and i liked the composition for both the vaggayakkera and vidwan delivery angle
2. The gowli or gowri pantu krithi of Muttuswami Dikshidar was sung exceptionally well . Kind of felt like bit hearing a more known taruam eedammA in a bit of more vilamba kaalam style. This krithi is rare and i am assuming this i am hearing for the first time . Kind of full throttle voice at times felt bit like mayatheertha swaroopini of the parent mmg . Every where there was a distint gowlipantu section , hopefully one of the days this krithi can even have a line of detailed neraval with a dose of swaras with bit more alapana possibly one of the days would like to see it as promoted as submain
3. The best pick krithi was the samaja vara gamana. The krithi rendition bit like Tanjore S kalyanaraman with quite a share of brigas reminding me of mahavidwan S kalyanaraman.In swaras it was absolutely brand new manodharmam . The first half had a lot of swara poruttam like ma ni da ni , ma ga mA da ni and with the same focus when you felt he is done with the whole passage of swaras then a brand new block of swaras start like sa ma ga sa sa . This kind of orientation where you feel manodharmam is energy unlimited manodharma with some distinct pockets of fresh ideas comes only with gana kala dhara madurai mani and suryaprakash showed a brand new angle of hindolam manodharmam keeping absolute perfection of laya and shruthi sudhham like his parama guru
4. RTP in a powerful voice with a most powerful shanmughapriya ragam born for RTP was very well presented . Shanmughapriya as a pallavi is so common but 95 or even 100 percent usually has lines is on muruga shanmugha. For a change kannanai pani manamE , kaar vannanai mukundanai all forms of Lord Krishna in ragam shanmughapriya is new to me. May be some has tried before with this combo of Lord Krishna + Shanmughapriya or may be is this the first strike <<would love to hear from others>>. All said the pallavi was fantastic especially during mrudangam taanam. Pallavi line was a neraval Pallavi line only no chance of any kanakku sommersault.
5. Divya prabhandam viruththam in raga stood out for extreme emote with music . KApi had lot of exotic flavours of frappucino,cappuchino but the krithi returning as udari thallamAl was lovely. WHat sahitya anubhavam that Sundararaja composer has given for this particular krithi . Was this more centric of helplessness of Yashoda towards Lord Krishna (it gives a run for money even enna thavam seidhanai or more closer aravinda pada malar ) . Few rapid fire extempore phrases in viruththam like srirangathil ranga, ananthapuriyil padmanabha,Guruvayooril , kanchiyil varadaraja gave lot of kapi rasa.
6. All the accompanist played exceptionally well . Personally i find this Praveen sparsh showing so much Pazhani -Trichy Sankaran like touches, extremely focussed kalapramanam tightness not a drag any where.Raghulthe violinlover gave the essence , he is in and out MC Devotee , Like chandru sir who shows lot of nadaswara brigha like touches he shows a lot of MC Style in alapana return, always sampradaya purity. Trichy Murali is seasoned he showed his class at discrete points and gave a lot of openings for sparsh to have more strokeful innings
Few things i did not like that much

1. Bilahari as a ragam is not the best of my taste in general that too getting promoted to main . Possibly he wanted to take a little shorter main to apportion more time for the planned RTP. THis bilahari smara sada is a 2 kalai krithi, may be samaja vara gamana being 1 kalai is not suited for main. All said i felt one krithi getting dropped would have been better. Possibly the early jaya jaya padmanabha in Sarasangi may have given more way . Bilahari swaras were significantly rationed and is not to my liking
2 . Little more revati and behag manodharmam in ragamaliga would have made me more happier in RTP.I think being 2 hour plus concert he had to hand over the baton for tani and one small tukkada with just 20 plus minutes time remaining .But hey that is why it is a good idea to consciously drop a krithi it will be a better experience to me
2. Praveen sparsh appears bit too worried in sound quality during the course of the concert , konjam way too adjustment with his spanner . Raghul could have bit reduced brigas in the course of alapana/song at times there is a slight different kalapramanam ideas where extra brigas in first half during alapana return does not suit the sarvalaghu downpour. All this may be tried for a concert say for atlest 3 hours, not 2 hour plus concerts .
Praveen Sparsh - Bit watching out a lot

In the last 2 plus years i am getting extremely interested in the play of Praveen sparsh , his lineage is Tanjore Upendran -PMI but the play is extremely anchored with Pazhani -Trichy Sankaran sir style. His prime guru is guruvayoor Dorai. He shows the same left right balance of his pudukottai PSP-GD/TS school .
Vanimahal is the only sabha patronizing Gokulashtami as series

vanimahal is the only sabha that is holding gokulashtami series . I dont know why sabhas like say SKGS have stopped gokulashtami series for many years . One has to give it to Sree thyaga brahma gana sabha in continuing to have a week long gokulashtami festival series in the Carnatic near bone dry month of September in madras. THe mrudangist could not be on time as there was some big traffic jam all around vanimahal ,some function in valluvarkottam they even stopped traffic but all that contributed to present bit deeper music . They start on time every time and kudos to them.This vanimahal sabha is great but will be even greater if they give another 30 minutes of performance time , All said all 4 had energy and skill to go for 3 to 4 hours but energy was only latent . Would have been nice if concert had atleast another 20 mins .Ideally from 06 30 to 9 PM can be a norm
Overall a very good to excellent concert for 2 hours and 10 minutes.
