Mrudangam : Prajwal Bharadwaj (disciple of Anantha Krishnan - Mark Waugh)
kanjira : Satish Gowtham (disciple of Giridhar Uthappa)
Tambura : ??
Concert Type : Non Nirvana - Not ticketed concert
Day : Sunday & Duration - 75 mins (12 30 to 2 pm)
Sabha/Hall : Parthasarathi Swami Sabha
01.Ninne bhajana (S) - nAttai - T
swaras for 6 mins
02. dayajooda samayamidhE - jaganmohini - SS
After a very satisfying suryaprakash with the 15 mins gap i thought let me also hear Swarathmika . I had not heard at all ,but came with a far far more satisfactory feeling , there was noting junior about her .
I would love to know about the guru/paramaguru of Srikanth/Leelavathi Gopalakrishnan from some one
What a start there is from the go Nattai . My first immediate 10 second impression is she blends tradition with innovative aura .Nattai krithi is rare and the contrast of jaganmOhini is bit rarer . Nice kalaikattufying which is all the more needed as it is just 90 mins concert
03. sasivadanA bhakthajana (R,S) - chandrajothi - T
06 mins alapana and 05 mins violin return
swaras for 04 mins
04.thillai chidambaramE - kapi narayani - marimutha pillai
What a chandrajyothi , almost Chandran had a sun fire. Her swaras were lovely , i usually adore swaras , kudos to her family naming her swarathmika. i was thinking bhAgayya nayya when alapana was on , but they rendering with sasivadanA , a very rare krithi was quite a surprise for me . Another fast filler thillai chidambaramE was a great contrast to bring the missing thamizh, my head was already warming up with swaras , but hey we should give her some slack it is just 90 mins concert.

05A. janani pAhi sadA jagadIsha (R N S T) - suddasaveri - ST
10 mins alapana and 05 mins violin return
shailarAja tanayE for 06 mins
06 mins swaras
05B. tani for 06 mins
06. nee sahAyam arul - kalyAnavasantham?? - Parthasarathi
What a brilliant suddha saveri alapana. Usually learning musicians go with tradition route of say poorvikalyani/pantuvarali with a bhairavi/todi main. For sure i did not expect a sudda saveri main with chandrajothi submain. With the suddasaveri alapana , i am making now a calculated guess that Srikanth and Leelavathi have a connection with GNB. What a throw in alapana and what drive in krithi and neraval and swaras . I am forgetting if i had heard say GNB sing Janani pAhi , certainly another great vocal trinity Semmangudi has sung this in navarathi mantapam . Singing the whole sudda saveri ragam, krithi, neraval with arresting swaras was very impressive and elegant.
The last nee sahAyam was a first time boney for me . I am assuming it is in kalyanavasantham . The composer may be is a contemporary and living composer , name was known to me bit later i came to know the composer as Parthasarathi , certainly she must have sung with the sabha in mind . Kalyanavasantham is a super emote raga especially for post main that too considering there is only time for one
Delhi Sundarrajan student Haritha Narayanan had a delhi soundarrajan approach of towing well the artist . I felt one of the ragas either suddasaveri or chandrjothi could have had a bit more sunaada tone . What a joy was the mrudangist , i am hearing him for the first time . His name is Prajwal Bharadwaj (disciple of Anantha Krishnan - Mark Waugh). I am not sure if i will have a chance to hear Anantha Krishnan as he is limiting to too few concerts well done Prajwal , nice vibrancy and kept a very engaging kalapramanam. Ghatam Udupa student Satish Gowtham gave great support and they both paired and rotated well.
Two back to back concerts of Suryaprakash and Swarathmika had pouring manodharma sangeetham , the joy in between was a single tea in a glass ,bit outside near PS Salai junction.
Hope Swarathmika takes full time concert singing, for few years being young she will be noticed and then there may be a lull as there would be another youngster like sWarathmika coming ...but for sure post that lull after that in a slow and steady race , swarathmika will be well recognized . Who knows she may be in the radar of my favourite artists Raji Gopalakrishnan... Pantula Rama ... Amrutha Venkatesh... SwarA....thmika.... (of course few more in the excellence band of Amrutha and Swarathmika are already there ).
Swarathmika and team had a standing ovation from the crowd at the end of this concert. She keeps high emote and does have power in her voice. I am not sure what else Swarathmika and team could have done in this constrained 90 mins . Swarathmika 90 mins concert was as close to near 2 hour concert .
Overall an excellent concert for 90 mins
10 mins alapana and 05 mins violin return
shailarAja tanayE for 06 mins
06 mins swaras
05B. tani for 06 mins
