Kambodi unfurling majestically over a full 3 octave range like a 9 yard koorai saree, every sanchara sounding like never heard before. Violinist good but confounded on occasion.

O Rangasayee follows. So many steps from Bhoolokam to Vaikuntam. And with the right approach & attitude they curve towards each other.

Ghana ragamalika varnam with kalpana swaras from youngster Preeti Sethuraman. Presented very well. Followed by a new Anbe sivam aruley deivam in nalinakanthi of Periyasamy thooran. Swaras would have been nice.

Now surutti alapana - angarakam may be.

Sudha madhurya bhashini sung briskly sounding somewhat partly close to amruthavarshini.

Brilliant start to Simhendramadyamam from tara sthayee Youngsters are killing it. Shrilakshmi Bhatt on the violin 🎻 painting the myriad hues tastefully.

Ninne nammiti nayya

Neraval @ pannagendra shayana studded with pannaga like wiggles executed energetically with exceptional accompaniment of mrdangam by bysurya nambisan followed by swaras

Vigorous Thani

Chandrasekhara sivasankara in darbari to round off the 1.5 hour slot

Some kritis should be sung only by men - like Sarasksha paripalaya.

Change my mind!

Thanks dear arasi for the encouragement. Hope you don't get to regret it 😜

Another Tuesday . Another angarakam with nice neraval at Deena rakshitam..

V. Subhasri singing in nice leisurely pace with clear enunciation of the lyrics.

Now Sarvesha adimayai nee udhari thaaldhe in bilahari. Never heard this kriti before. Some beautiful glides & swaraksharas. P. Sivan?

Vara narada in vijayasree with a lighting round of swaras going toe to toe with Gayathri on the 🎻

Harikambodhi alapana. The introverted cousin of Kambodhi presented with all the incredible flourishes of the school in the same nonchalant fashion.

Sani thodi with all its exquisite sangatis.presented well. Neraval at patitula broche patta adhikarini.

Made it on time for todi alapana return at the academy for aditya narayan..should have had that extra cup.

Enduku dayaradu ra

Neraval at Thyagaraja vinuta. Very reminiscent of TMK as he was coming up.

Wonderful sound system adjusted perfectly.Cant say the same about RR sabha with probably an equally expensive system. And the sound guy blames the artiste saying that is what they demand.

Enthusiastic applause for the neraval leading to swaras. Gokul on violin shining brightly.

RTP in Kambodhi. 4 kalai pallavi. Triputa

Kanden kali theernthen in kalyani at the academy. Has been a while.

Neraval at ninren sannidi arugil nirmalamrutam unden

Beautiful kriti elegantly presented by the duo of Vani & Shreya (violin) with the morning accomp providing a nice touch.

Academy audience stingy with applause for the exceptional neraval. Beautiful swaraksharams & poruthams in the swaras (m p d ninren)

Vasantabhairavi RTP. Think audience is dozing after full meals carb overload. Led the smattering of applause for the alapana

Pallavi line could b

Tanam segues into vasanta & violi bbrings in bhairavi

Wonderful presentation

Kavavo napai nee dayarada
Asamana deivama

There's probably more than one easter egg in there. Composed by Vishal sapuram.

Final round of swaras in single kalai including vasanta & bhairavi

See RTPs can be beautiful too!!No need to go hammer & tongs at it.

Sarvam brahma mayam in madhuvanti

Sureshvv,
No elaborations either reflecting on your favored expositions by the young and the seasoned, but how you add frills to all that gets detailed in the earnest in a normal review! Frills, I said? Make it jarigaik karai (gold border) to a kanjIvaram sari! Feasts, the season's feasts--and you bring a hint of the flavor of the meal with its special qualities. Thanks...

I am afraid not. However, I am able to see a number of streamed stuff which is enough fare. I ain't no spring chicken for sabha-hopping anymore, as you well know!

Of course, several of you bring the flavor home to me, Rajesh leading the pack.

We fall chickens can still kuchery plod 😉

Neraval at vaazha ulaginil for the thiruppavai of the day followed by a veritable deluge of swaras
.
Great start to concert after viriboni varnam.

Neerajakshi kamakshi emphasizing the swaraksharas. Are the artistes getting smarter or is it me? 🧐 Chittaswarams in vilamba speed suited for the kriti adding a nice touch

Meditative hindolam paving the way for a brisk telisi ramachandra kishore & guruprasad announcing their presence making sure no one does off in the audience.

Kalyani alapana in a stentorian voice studded with gamakas shining spectacularly as much as the kadukkan in his ear. VVS Murari providing nice non intrusive support & now shining on his own.

Nidhichala sukhama with neraval at mamata bandana. Out of town friend just strolled in.

Hanuman chalisa for tukkada section. Audience invited to join in. Hanumatjayanti special

Academy canteen queue is a mile long.

Image

Starting with maayanai

Brief harikambodhi alapana followed by rama nannu brovurs.

Pantuvarali alapana followed by a brisk visalakshim. Neraval @ kasi ragneem. Sanskrit pronunciation could be better.. swaras with additional eduppu at.kapalineem.

Darbar sounding great in baritone neela nayana neevo. Over too fast.

Todi alapana koluvamaregada with neraval @ chekoni tambura

RTP in kalyani. On R.K.Sriramkumar? Really?

A verbal introduction to the RTP could have gone a long way to make the presentation more enjoyable.

I was confounded by both the lyrics and the tala, although he went thru the motions, as it were, to make it obvious.

Ninuvinaga in poorvi kalyani submain.

Academy staple 😜

Sudha madhurya bhashini as quick filler.

Nadachi nadachi main.

Melodious & meditative neraval @ putami suta.

Lovely aspect of this slot is to be pleasantly surprised by the talent of the youngsters, some of whom we hear for the first time.

Viruttam, vizhikku thunai in behag, varamu? & Bhavani?

Unnai anri utra thunai

Followed by tillana in poornachandrika

Starting with karunajuda in shree raga of shyama.
Done briskly with a groove making me sway in my seat. Nice!

Sahana alapana

Abode Ram is accompanying. And sounding
great.

Suttum vilakkeriya with swaras at pallavi

Mamava raghurama maragadamani syama in saranga rupakam. Don't remember this Thyagaraja kriti with the mischievous broken mudra. Would have been nice to hear it in whole.
Wonder if MDR has sung this one

Todi ragam Chidambaram Badrinath on the 🎻 making a mark here & receives nice applause for which he takes a sitting down bow confounding the super seniors in the row ahead

Sri subrahmanyo mam rakshattu nicely showing off the swaraksharas. Neraval @ shatakoti bhaskara

RTP in begada

10am concert overflowing at Partha. Don't remember seeing this hall this full this early.

Image

"Only she has the guts to wear black on stage", according to Missus. May be overstating. Can be a bit over dramatic

TRS hameer varnam (senthil vaazh murugaiah) followed by rama bhathi samrajyam. Swaras @ pallavi line.

Patri on mrdangam .Rajeev Mukundan on 🎻
Chandrasekhara sharma on ghatam.

Sri Bhargavi in mangalakaisiki. Very sombre.

Brisk lathangi alapana to shake anyone out of the margazhi morning lethargy Aparadhamula follows. Neraval @ anupallavi.Thunderous applause for both the vocalist and the 🎻 for both the neraval and the swaras

Kapi main. Ineffable beauty with so many subtle & not so subtle touches. Huge applause from packed hall Weaving heavenly magic with inta sowkhyamani

Kapi vilamba kala swarams. 1 hour not enough. The great ones make it appear simple. See all one has to do is land on each note perfectly. Holding a gentle smile if you can is the bonus.

Definitely a great kapi this one!

Behag outline & tillana. May be BMK.

Ah, Amrutha! One of my favorite vidushis without a doubt.

aparAdhamulanniyu manninchi etched in memory of Neduneri gAru singing it, makes me wish I had heard Amrutha sing it.

I can sort of imagine the kApi that she sang--bringing in all varied shades of it in her own playful but sure-footed ambling way through the rAgA. She makes it all seem so easy while she brings out the essence of what she sings, Yes, smiling through it, savoring it while she performs and shares it with us. Her imagination is endless and her love for what she does is praiseworthy. Yes, that smile goes with a glint in her eyes at times.

Your lady is spot on. Why black, that too in the morning hours? I suppose a long season with so many saris to decide on wearing--to sing in and to attend concerts in, the choice was made in a hurry. Amrutha would smile sweetly if she were to read this, is my guess...

Future stars in the making.

Shakthi Muralidharan, Srikriti & Anirudh Raj.

Highly enjoyable fare. Regret getting in late to the program.

Goplakrishna Bharathi seems to have come back to prime time this year.

Thillai chidambaram enru in poorvikalyani. Soft & melodious voice. Swaras at pallavi line.

Mayamma, Ahiri.

Vachama gocharame manasa

RTP in kedaragowla was the coup de grace. Grand presentation.

Tanam adds Surutti & Reethigowla

Karunarasa kedaragowlanga pahi sivadaanga in khanda triputa.

Swaras in kedaram, gowla,
vasanta, bhairavi, vasantabhairavi,
mohanam, kalyani, mohanakalyani

Behag overview followed by Irakkam varaamal

All in all a dedicated performance by all on stage and a jackpot of a concert for the 2 o clock slot.

Who sings Dr. V.V.Srivatsa's composition for submain?

Who can sing natabhairavi tugging at your heart like this?

Only an artiste who dances to her own tune :D
