It was a wonderful concert. From the LGJ's beautiful Varnam till my favourite MS' Tillaana. Special Mention in RTP,. He actually said in the concert, "Iam trying a different RtP, known pallavi (heard in some other rAga), packed into Simmednra madhyamam to decide whether sAkhityam is better or rAga is better". He left the decision to us.

Never saw SGC in full flow and his timber was very nice. Violin vidwan's "besh" heard many times. Delhi and AA are thundering in tani.

You folks are bringing us absentees at the music season a nearness by your writing about the concerts.
Sounds like a substantial concert, Gurucharan in form. May he shine in more of his concerts this season.

HN Bhaskar, our Karnataka violinist's playing is very appealing. I wonder how many TN rasikas are familiar with his good playing.

He has been a (HNB) consistent performer in Dec season. Interestingly, he was rushing out of Narada Gana sabha, when asked, going to BvB. After seeing Rajeshji's review, I came to know he was playing for Palghat Ramprasad. Wonder how he reached BVB in 15 minutes with our Metro-menace

I think it would be nice if more accompanist are featured in general. With respect to Mrudangist there is surely lot of quality yes in the last 5 years, for mrudangist so easily relatively less unknown artist can be featured. Violin still there is paucity but hey only 2 hours concert . Way too many chances is usually seen for Patri - L Ramakrishnan ,yes they are top draws but not at the cost of losing solid 20 mins ...

In this case HNB had to wind up say at 06 30 pm or so as there is a 06 45 pm concert in NGS main hall, the concert at BVB got delayed to 07 05 from 06 45 , that is a solid 20 mins delay... 10 or 15 years back maharajapuram srinivasan started on time despite mrudangist not arriving, there was one post or mention of that concert - there should be more professsionalism to start on time please.

Also at times post functions or awards the usually senior artist who are rewarded too way too much time to do namaskarams and extend their social connection and only one thing suffers primarily one neraval gone , surely RTP is surely gone.

HNB is very much a chennai vasi for atleast 2 decades , at this point we all should be wondering how many KA rasikas are familiar with his good MSG'ish like playing. HNB indeed is very appealing and a top accompanist

Full of semitonal intervals , the middle , near the prakriti boundaries everywhere, it is an overcooked soggy rice ( kuzhainda saadam). enda tALatilEyum oTTa vaikka mudiyaatu! It won't stick to any tALA flow.

aDittu pADuvadarku muDiyaata rAgam - cannot force or stress down in any note or phrase!

To me, when a viruttham is sung like a virutham with kuzhaivu (yes, like sAdam), and when a pallavi line is sung in any chosen rAgam as befits the pallavi with the right expression, it can be pleasing...
