The concert was exactly slotted for 2 hours 5 mins , a junior artist performing mandolin preceded and Akkarai sisters followed after Vignesh Ishwar. WIth just 2 hours it is understandable that there needs some mins for setting up the microphone .

At around some number before main i think , Vignesh who had two miraj tambura players took and retuned the tambura and we lost 10 mins . THe necessity of two thamburas is in my opinion but whatever Vignesh was mentioning may be the AC or excess lighting did make him retune , as a rasika i lost a solid 10 mins . COncert came down to 1 hour 40 mins . Personally for a few non nirvana concert it is ok to come with Radel tambura and give more quota to sing

All said Vignesh has a very great throw and sampradaya suddham , kind of follows his immediate guru TMK more the first half version of TMK. I wish he generally works bit more in having a wider range of repertoire almost every number i predicted .

THe start in swati tirunal krithi reminded me of more his paramaguru electric cheenu at certain places , neraval could have been racy but he just kept towards a golden mean for most part. I prefer a little more opened out pantuvarali. Since it was a trinity arts festival when he sang Ananda bhairavi , i was mostly predicting few SS songs and indeed my second prediction of pAhi giri raja suthe came in well . The next kaikavashi is usally filler sung with only krithi no long swara patterns to match up

The main was very impressive for it grand treatment . I could hear significant traces of semmangudi there.Just little more dwelling and a bit reduced tani would have been great. When maand with alapana was on, i predicted in my mind and i got the song ranga bAro

All said Vignesh Ishwar has a great throw and he consistently had a great classical baseline . He did not have more of performance time .Atleast i would have been happier if he say not tuned the tambura in the middle of the concert and also tuned at the start where he took may be 20 mins time and apportioned that time to say sing a slokham moulav ganga ending with a racy naadanamakriya krithi jagadeesha of swati tirunal. Looking also forward for he having a little more repertoire and hearing a concert with more elaboration.

HN bhaskar was apt and quickly gave the turn to Vignesh. Both the percussionist were at some places in a bit overdrive mode , there was a noticable improvement of Akshay playing , he appears to have more rolling fingers since i heard last time . Tani could have been bit shorter for the concert duration.

Overall a very good concert for 1 hour and 45 mins
