Personally in the last 2 decades some how vidushis outside of TN domicile interest me far more than local CM vidushis. Vidwans are exactly the opposite . Say starting with Raji Gopalakrishnan in 2004 plus time frame and Sangeetha Swaminathan (who is settled in USA), musician like pantula rama(From vizag) interest me a lot . IN that trajectory certainly is this extremely proficient vidushi Amrutha Venkatesh from Bangalore .
Personally i prefer musicians to have a lot less numbers in concerts to give more way to creative manodharmam quotient and certainly amrutha did that . Her usual team of percussionist especially the super rock star Arjun Ganesh did rock and pushed the concert to excellence . I have seen usually Rajeev Mukundan but this time it was Bombay Madhavan as a new violinist. I think i have heard him once or twice and i have forgotten which one that is .
Personally in my morning that sunday i was in hamsadhwani mood sending few pointers in whatsapp to few friends on the joy of hamsadhwani and carnatic december season. Amrutha starting with hamsadhwani is a joy, hamsadhwani guarentees generally a higher quota of swara and indeed amrutha did exceptionally well with krithi and swaras and kutcheri kalai kattufied right at the opener.
The sedate filler with longer gayaki like touches in sahana especially alapana was very well done . A rare krithi in thamizh came out very well, i think i have heard this rare thillai ambalathanai in sanjay music academy concert .The words are very well laid out to bring more serene sahana and amrutha did well
The next was a bouncer urmika with alapana . I think i heard recently an elaborate urmika by Late OST . The cittaswaras were tuned by OST guru TMT and amrutha venkatesh did very well . But what came as a surprise is also the kalpana swaras in urmika . This rare ragam urmika , janya of simmhendramadhyamam is slowly registering in my head.
Joy joy to hear the promotion of chakravaakam as a main . Alapana , krithi , neraval and swaras everything was laid out briiliantly without an iota of sag . She said she learnt from Rama verma who was seated before her and she also said Vechur Hariharasubramanian taught Rama verma . Pranams to Vechoor Sir this krithi was fantastic promotion as main and Amrutha performed very well .
In the tukkadas she started with a low hanging fruit venkatachala nilayam . But I liked more the thillana in Jinjoti. Bombay Madhavan volume of violin was slightly high, at few places in early part of the concert the violin volume was on high side but that got adjusted may be from 3rd song.
What can one say about Ravindra Jadeja look alike, Arjun Ganesh . Arjun Ganesh is our CSK Ravindra jadeja , who constantly fills and creates a nice kalapramanam for every song . NOt a ball was wasted he fills and he perhaps will be a legend of the next gen say following Patri Satish or Neyveli Venkatesh. The co percussionist Dr Karthik during course of krithi tapped so well. The tani was quite crisp just 11 or 12 mins and unfortunately Dr Karthik asked for a jack up of volume and that even continued to tukkada
All said Amrutha Venkatesh is a star in the making , her creation especially she always finding great accompanist like say Arjun Ganesh is adding tremendous value to her concert, i wish Arkay Ramakrishnan gives 2 hours and 30 mins (I know he may be reading this)
Overall an excellent concert for 2 hours and 10 mins.

Lovely review. Thank you for posting this. Just started listening to this. The sedata sarva laghu swarams in Hamsadhwani itself was a throwback to earlier eras. Reminded me of old MMI concerts. This is a fantastic team.
