it is definitely possible. gopala krishna bharati met thyagaraja. thyagaraja asked him to sing a song.bharati sang 'sabapathiku veru deivam'. however i've heard that in the later generations patnam subramanya iyer and maha vaidyanatha sivan it seems did not see eye to eye with each other though both lived in the same street. this was described by mysore vasudevachar.

Jayaram:
A very interesting article and a good example of liberal mindedness of the two greats! Wish if this is the spirit among the many contemporaries as well!!
In the same vein, the legend goes that, Thyagaraja had similarly composed "Endaro Mahanubhaavulu" after meeting another great composer in Kerala called "Shatkaala" Govinda Maaraar, who along with Iriyimman Thampi (the author of the famous pieces like "Karuna Cheivaan.." popularised by Shri Chembai, and the famed lullaby " Omana Thingal kidaavo.." -) are the rather not-so-much-heard of composers in Kerala.

Here is an article about Shadkaala Govinda Maaraar and the circumstances that led to the composing of "Endaro Mahaanubhaavulu" by Saint Thyagaraja after listening to Maaraars 6 tempos of singing of Geeta Govindam / Ashtapadi.

Sam Swaminathan,
We were on a short pilgrimage to the temples in the Mayiladuturai _Kumbakonam belt in November 2006. Unfortunately we could spend very little time at the great Mayuranathaswami Temple at Mayiladuturai. What caught our attention during that short visit was the writings on one of the inner walls within the temple precincts. It said that Muthuswamy Dikshidar and Thyagaraja met in the temple and composed krithis in praise of the presiding deities. All the Navavarna krithis of MD are written on the wall. (The word “inscriptionâ€

Re: Did Tyagaraja and Dikshitar ever meet?
Why is the article missing in Shruthi? My question was "who really composed dhArini telusukonti"? Thyagaraja is omitted in https://karnatik.com/c1448.shtml although most people end it with thyagaraja. Guru Guha can be easily added after ambuja bhava.. Being on Devi and Dikshithar style of long charanam (so that charanam 1 and 2 are usually sung as a single charanam), higher proportion of sanskrit words with a few telugu words like "telusi konti". Hear https://drive.google.com/file/d/1YyQkUx ... sp=sharing to see how MDR gives the beautiful sahithyam swaram, very characteristic of Dikshithar. It sppears and sounds like a Dikshithar krithi with first line changed?! Any ideas. Have musicologists discussed this? In Western classical, thyAgarAjA is like Bach and Dikshithar is like Mozart who died pretty young. Just a humble opinion and a comparison. Om shAnthi. BTW can someone translate this krithi from Telugu? https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CrFLWK ... sp=sharing. Thanks

The atIta prayOgam (especially to accomplish prAsa maitri) in sun || dari NI and ku || mAru Ni simply give away who is the composer! Need to consider [:cough;] the music of the words , not the "lyrics" alone. There is no such thing as "lyrics" in Carnatic music!
