Carnatic Music in Saarang 07?

No Carnatic Pro Shows at Saarang this year? Bharathji, what is the inside scoop - hope it is not a reflection of interest levels in an institution that has produced some fine musicians and many fine rasikas!

there was no indian music proshow at saarang this year. usually either carnatic or hindustani is featured. this is decided by the organising committee.

this year, there was apparently a world music show by a band called global rhythms. i conveniently forgot to attend the show.

i m told a few carnatic musicians and a few western musicians shared the stage. They began with navarAgamAlikA varNam, a tillAnA and then went with the show which finished with shakkalaka baby and chayya chayya...

aieeeyooo...sounds perfectly awful! Bharath you should poured boiling oil over the stage, shiv sena style, before the event!

actually i dint mind not having a carnatic or hindustani pro-show. i find it better not having one, than having a compromised show to fulfil the masses and the hardcore classical rasikas.

the last Bharath Utsav happened in 2001. They dont have it anymore.
