Akshay Padmanabhan comes from the PSN school having learnt from A.S. Murali before coming under the wings of Guru PSN. This is the first live concert I am hearing of him although I have heard his concerts in you tube. He sings well. Good voice strength, sruti sudham, manodharmam and proportion. But his over indulgence in brighas is robbing the beauty of his music. He should give attention to this aspect.
His alapanas of Saranga, Sreeranjani, Lalitha and Bhairavi were on the traditional lines bringing out the raga bhavam with the choicest phrases and his voice easily negotiates the three octaves. The song selection was good, covering variety of composers, ragams and talams. Enough manodharmam was evident in the alapanas, neravals and swarams. The proportion was ideal. Nothing was overstretched to test our patience. The kritis were rendered adhering to the authentic patantharam with the cascading sangatis in tact. For Sogasuga, swarams were rendered in Navarasayutha kridi che with laya complexities. For Janani Mamava, neraval was done at Anupamita Kamala vase and decorated with elaborate swaras. The tail enders were very enjoyable.
V. Deepika- I am hearing her for the first time. There is one Vocalist- V. Deepika. Is she different from this violinist- I don’t know. She played well. Her alapanas were succinct and returns very appropriate. Kishore Ramesh- son and disciple of senior Mridanga Vidwan R. Ramesh displayed lot of talent, understanding and anticipation in his playing. He is sure to blossom into a consummate vidwan very shortly.
A very good concert for two and half hours.

I don't understand this concept
Unless Mike is give only to vocalist and not to accomapanists, how will this solve the problem?
If the Mike is placed common position to all then won't the ratio of amplification be the same between vocal and mridangam??

The mike is placed between the vocalist and violinist. Still many times, violin is not fully picked up by the mike.
