There is a Hindustani rAgA that goes by the exact same name, and it couldn't be more different. That one belongs to the bilAwal thAT. So this thread is for the carnatic version only.

The CM rAgA is a janya of dhEnukA. It is quite scalar and goes like

Avaro : S D1 P M1 G2 R1 S
