TM Krishna on fire today. No words to describe the kambhoji swarams. Praveen Sparsh, though has to focus on sensitive accompaniment. But he lit the stage on fire with that misra nadai along with Karthick. Hemalatha on the violin, as usual, sweet and crisp.

Sangeetha Kalanidhi D.K.Pattammal Birth Centenary Tribute Concert: T M Krishna, vocal, on January 26, 2019, at 6.15pm, at the Youth Hostel, Indira Nagar. Dr. R Hemalatha: Violin, Tanjavur Praveen Kumar: Mridangam, Dr S Karthik: Ghatam

For me attending this wonderful concert was such a joyful, rare event: Attending two T M Krishna conerts in two weeks, a prospect quite unthinkable only a few months ago, was now a reality. First of all, Sri TMK does not give concerts as often as he used to, say, three years ago. The fact that the venue was accessible for rasikas like me who do not own automobiles in Chennai, was an added bonus. This concert was grand; TMK did not disappoint his ardent followers.
For those who wish to know the ragas and the krithis sung at this concert, here is the list:
1. Mukhari raga. Brief alapana, followed by Shivakama Sundari, Papanasam Sivan, composer
2. Kambodhi. An elaborate alapana, followewd by Taanam. Arumorundoru. Muthu Thandavar, composer
3. Kapi raga, alapana, Poonkuyil koovum, Kalki Krishnamurti, composer. A brief Thani
4. Saveri alapana, violin only. Ayyane natanam adiga
5. Natakuranji, an elaborate most wonderful alapana, Ekkaalathilum maravene, Ramaswami Sivan composer, Thani avarthanam, The main krithi of the concert
6. Mohana raga. Kapali, Papanasam Sivan
7. Agaramum aagi adipanum aagi, Sindhu Bhairavi, Thiruppugal, Arunagiri Nathar
8. Aduvome pallu paaduvome, Subramanya Bharathi, Ragam Desh
9. Shaantinilava vendum, Tilang raga, Sethumaadhava Rao, composer
A two and a half hour long, extraordinaru concert, dripping with sowkhya bhaava from the beginning to the very end. At the end of the concert, most of the audience rose to their feet and gave huge applause. I haven't heard such a deeply touching concert in a very long time. I thought his concert at the Bharathuya Vidya Bhavan two weeks ago on January 12, 2019, was such an extraordinary concert that I struggled for words to describe it adequately. But this concert left me totally stunned and stupefied. I don't think a mere human can sing like this. Without a doubt, his astonishing, elaborate Nattakuranji alapana was in a class by itself: I have not heard a more beautiful Nattakuranji in my entire life. As I left the Youth Hostel, I heard only praise and positive things from the rasikas about this concert.

I think 7 was Jaganmohini and 8 was Maand.

What I found comforting was that there were no orphaned raga alapanas or tanams (without a kriti following). Hope TMK sticks to that "formula".

The mini-thani after kapi was really interesting. Both Praveen and Dr.Kartik played together the whole time but gave each other space to play their patterns independently while just providing basic rhythm accompaniment. Was quite mind blowing. Could have lasted longer!

TMK is blessed with a voice and his control and application of vocal dynamics is imaginative. When he starts singing it is easy to not think of much else.
