Titbits
-----
1. Sanjay is singing at the MFA after more than a decade. Just as the curtains went up, a (rowdy?) voice from the audience welcomed him which he studiously ignored :D

2. Margazhi thingal was sung in an unusual gait probably with the expectation that it had been covered fairly well in the earlier slots.

3. Thara sthayee was explored comprehensively in all the alapanas. Sanjay demolished the Upper Panchamam barrier time and again.

4. Thani was a grand affair which received a long bout of applause seemingly surprising the artistes themselves.

5. Post main the concert became mellow and reflective much to my delight.

I realized the hard way that I should always buy tickets for Sanjay a day in advance. By the time I got there, there wasn't a single ticket left in any form, not even for standing on the street! So I ended up at Parthasarathy swami Sabha's inauguration with a violin duet by A Kanyakumari and Embar Kannan instead.

The second song must be Sambandar dEvaram on mylapore- " Mattitta punnaiyan gaana madamayilai ".

Did he sing- TirvuvaLar mayilail- after "akila sarAsara'- virutham, If it is yes, then it Papanasam sivan kriti on Mylapore KapAli. I like this kamAs very much. He sang, somewhere else long back and it is in youtube.

That night was very cold, which was unusual for chennai. How was the crowd ?

Thank you for the info.

Hall was sold out. Crowd was full. Most stayed until the end and gave a lasting standing ovation.
