It is with a heavy heart that I convey the news that veteran Veena artist - Vidushi Ranganayaki Rajagopalan passed away this morning. She was one of the greatest exponents of the Karaikudi style of Veena playing. Please find below a link to the Sankarabharanam Varnam played by the Vidushi many decades ago

A competition event in Dallas labelled a specific room for the event after the vidushi and Smt. Geetha Bennett also found her name etched in another room - just so Children / Parents get curious to find out who the vidushis are. Not sure if this was a practice elsewhere already, but I thought that was a great memorial gesture they did!
