I recently read about the Saagar Veena developed by Raza Kazim of Lahore. It appears a lot of research has gone into its development, and the separation of vibrating and resonating components in a non-electronic veena is novel.

Sagar Veena is a completely new addition to the existing variety of stringed Instruments for playing North Indian Classical Music (NICM), and a new invention in musical instruments altogether. The name is divided into two parts; "Sagar"

Thanks for posting this clip. The only word that I can use to describe my feeling after listening to this clip is "sukoon".vgovindan wrote: ↑19 May 2018, 01:03 Noor Zehra - Sagar Veena - video clip. What a range and depth!

When I listen to such clips, I am always left with the question is it possible to sing like this or is it something inherent and unique to an instrumental sound. I have not found an answer yet.
Thanks again,

I am glad this very old thread is resurrected. So far as it comes over YouTube, that is such remarkable and beautiful tone. I'd love to experience an actual concert
