I hope you were able to attend this performance...and were as moved as the reviewer was!
In one of the excerpts that Kji posted a few winters ago, the legendary Bala is supposed to have told a young Jon Higgins when he went to congratulate her after a performace at Wesleyan: 'what dance? That was not dance, it was the music - if you 'listen' carefully, you will understand' or words to that effect. Higgins was so inspired by those words that he set out to become 'Higgins bhAgavatar' soon after, or so the legend goes.
A truly wonderful dance recital is therefore, just good music come to life.
