I wonder how they are getting around the copyright problem unless all the available songs are from their own cassettes and CDs.

Must be their own stuff. Giri must have a fairly large collection of their own. They may also be paying a cut to other companies whose music they provide.

What would be of interest is to see how long this technology would remain attractive, especially considering the penetration of the internet.

This is not exactly a new concept, except for the hi-tech ATM style booth. About five years back there was a similar thing called "MyMusicAlbum" avbl at the Music Academy lobby, where the vendor (was it Carnatica... I'm not sure) allowed you to choose songs from a printed catalog of 2000 songs and you would get the burnt CD two hours later, when you emerged from the concert hall. Wonder why it was discontinued...
