While 'pantuvarali' is not in my top 5 ATAW ('any time any where') raga, my memorable renditions of this raga over the years had been M.S. and Parasala Ponnammal. Sri. Ramaswamy's Pantuvarali now joins that list. There is something in the timbre of his voice and his manner of singing this raga makes it quite a meditative and peaceful experience.

I have heard about the vibrant CM community in Kochi/Ernakulam area and I can see now how veterans like this gentleman form the backbone of CM in that area.

This aspect of parvadini is unfolding quite wonderfully. If there is a sanskrit term for 'removal of myopia', that can be a tag line for them. " Working to remove the blurred vision of Chennai centric rasikas for distant great artists"

Indeed. Kudos to Neelakanta Sivan Cultural Academy.

Venkat, I had not heard this varnam before either. All the material I read about him mentioned he is a composer and so on a whim, I looked up his compositions. This is indeed his own varnam. Very good one.

His rendition of the slokam 'Gajananam Bhuta Ganathi Sevitam' in Arabhi before the second song is also quite captivating. He makes it sound so effortless while packing a lot of arabhi. Incidentally, that second song 'Sri Mahaganapathimaham' in Arabhi is also his composition
