Difference between a krithi and a keerthanam

Please let me know if there is any difference between Krithi and Keerthanam and if so please let me know the difference.

Please tell me in a dance recital if only 2 items are performed, what should be performed first the Kriti or the Shabdam.

I am sure that members who are dancers and choreographers will have an opinion, but a knee jerk reaction will be Sabdam, followed by a kRti, because the kRti should offer more scope for sancAris, whereas the concept is introduced in the Sabdam...
