Recently, Sanjay Subramaniam has been learning under him.

கோலப்பனும் நானும் சில ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன் வித்வான் வைத்தியநாதன் அவர்களைச் சந்தித்து சில மணி நேரங்கள் பேசிக் கொண்டிர்ந்தோம். அவர்கால தவில் கலைஞர்களின் வாசிப்பு, பல்லவி, ரக்தி, லய சமாசாரங்கள், அவதான பல்லவி, கம்பீர நாட்டை தவிர வேறு ராகங்களில் மல்லாரி என்று பல விஷயங்கள் பேசிவிட்டு கிளம்பும் போது அவர் மாயவரத்தில் மதுரை மணி ஐயரிடம் கற்றதைப் பற்றிச் சொன்னார்.

கீர்த்தனை பாடம் செய்ய வேண்டும் என்று மணி ஐயரிடம் சென்ற போது, “எனக்கு ரெண்டாயிரம் கீர்த்தனை பாடம். உனக்கு எது வெண்டும்?”, என்று கேட்டு திக்குமுக்காடச் செய்தாராம் மணி ஐயர்.

மணி ஐயரின் பந்துவராளியில் ஒரு துளியை எங்களுக்காக கோடிட்டும் காண்பித்தார் வைத்தியநாதன்.
