Memorial Function for Mayavaram G. Somasundaram 15/2/13

I heard today that Thiruvarur Bakthavathsalam and others have organised a memorial function for the late Kanjira vidwan Mayavaram G. Somasundaram, who died one year ago. There will be a concert performed by Neyveli Santhanagopalan.

Sri Somasundaram had been in poor health for some years, and increasing deafness meant taking a back seat in the performances where he was seen. He must have been a wizard in his youth. Even in old age his brain had astonishing ability with calculations. Here I am quoting my guru's respect for him.

Details of the program should be in tomorrow's The Hindu. I hope, not only for his sake, but for the sake of his widow, that the function will be well attended.
