church has a 'gopuram' (sorry, i dont know what is the quivalent christian term). You can just show it with 2 kartaris crossed on top of your head.

Mosque has domes. So i would suggest two patakas tracing a hemisphere on your head. Like how you show a night traditionally.

Dear KSL,

Thanks a lot.

I think two kartharis on top is a temple right. that's how we denote a temple. are you sure? Kindly clarify

Dear KSL,

If you say a mosque should be shown just like how we show night, then is it that night and mosque has the same kind of mudra? I am sorry, i don't understand. Is there some dance where they have shown this mudra.

Pls. reply.

The question is what kind of church it is.

As far as I know, until 200 AD or so, "church" did not mean "a building" or "an organization" but "a community" (sangha).
The Catholic buildings in Western Europe/USA are angular, while the ones in Eastern Europe have domes like mosques.

The mudra for a protestant church is the same as for "prison" (they both have the same appearance and the function). For the Church of Scientology, the mudra is the same as for "bank".

Of course you could ask what mudra is there for a synagogue, for the Pope or for the Holy Office of the Inquisition.

Hi,

I am not going so deep into that. I want to show that all Gods are one, so want to show temple, church and a mosque.

So could you tell me what is the mudra we use for a church and a mosque. I think the mudra we use to show a temple is karthari(cross) above the head.

I want to know the mudra for church and mosque.

thanks

Laya2 - have you considered using the mudra for the temple - and following it up with crossing yourself or making the sign of a cross for a church, and the 'ada hAfiz' to show a mosque?

@ laya2 - what ksl and rshankar are trying to do is take mudras that are used for other purposes and use those mudras in a creative way to depict church, mosque etc. I don't believe that there are any specific mudras for church and mosque. You may want to search youtube for Christian/Moslem names/themes and Bharatanatyam. Recently I think there was a video showing shabdam on Jesus so it may show that dancer's mudra for church. Don't have access to youtube at the moment so can't search for you.

the hand showing night: 0.37 in this video. Modify it to show the architecture of the mosque (meaning, take it higher and make a smaller circle)

kartari swastikam on top of head is the same as that of a temple. You can use the same hasta.

Good Luck!
