Cassette to CD

hi,
i have a problem. I have some music on cassette which is studio recorded. now, booking the studio to get it all on to a CD is very expensive for my capacity.
Usually there are people who convert Cassette to CDs and do a very good job. Do any of you now of such people who conver cassettes to CD and still give the same, if not better, quality of music as the original. I am looking for someone who can do this in Hyderabad.
This is urgent Please let me know ASAP.

You cannot get better quality than the "original"!

But you certainly should not get worse

If you have a PC, and your PC has a sound card, you probably have almost everything you need to do the task yourself. However, I can appreciate that you want one task (getting it done) rather than two (learning how, then getting it done). Just saying, though, in case you do not find anyone to help you.

I know a person by name Mr Nagaraj who handles PA at Sivagami Pethachi Auditotium his ct iin Chennai is + 91 9841731896i. Even though i noticed your requirement is in HYD i thought in case you do not get one there you can use this person as it is just a courier away.

Also as suggested by Nick H you can use few basic software like Soundforge or Adobe audition and try to do it your self at home too by playing the cassette in a recorder. Take audio out to either line in or mike in jack in the pc and record the music through these software.

easy said than done!!!!! Thought at least the info might be useful.

Audacity is free, and more than enough for digitising tapes etc.

You must take to the line-in socket: microphones have very low voltage! Even basic PCs, these days, have such sound boards built in to the motherboard.

If natyasri cannot find pro help, I hope a Hyderabadi will volunteer to help.

If you are in a hurry drop in at the nearest philips dealer and buy the AZ1856 machine for 4999. It is the coolest thing imaginable.

if that is so, then i will ask some audio dealer or some video Cd library/ internet guy for help. i am sure my lappy has all required. however iam not able to make out exactly what kind of cables i would need. would it be too much to ask for a picture of the cable, just to know how it looks?? i have a festival to perform in within days i land in india, so wont have much time running around.
But really, thanks a lot for the suggestions and advice. Atleast now iam confident that this job can be done , even by me. i was really very very apprehensive.

Hmmm... backtracking a little on my DIY enthusiasm: a desktop computer would almost certainly have what is needed; a laptop may well not have all those ins and outs. But best, as you say, show it to an audio or computer person and get their thoughts.
