Hi,
I am trying to choreograph for Alaipayuthey Kanna. I know it is our own creativity when we choreograph. I have a doubt.
When the words like Nilay Peyarathu Silai polava Nindru is repeated often, I try to show couple of poses and say that I am waiting there for him etc.
What i would like to check is that for these words when it is repeated more often I thought of showing the lady looking at the mirror to see if she has dressed up well and looking at the window again to see if he is coming. I just wanted to check if these lines can also be interpreted this way.
Can anybody tell me pls.

the anupallavi means :
Transfixed, I stood there like a statue, oblivious of even the passage of time, hey, mysterious flautist... (source: musicindiaonline.com)
You could probably show the lady fetching water and letting her pot drift away in the water or drawing a 'kolam' or rangoli distractedly..doing her regular chores but becoming distracted/ freezing (or something along those lines) when she hears Krishna's flute...
Your idea with the mirror might work, but personally, I feel something more passive would be better. Showing that she becomes like a 'silai'.

Thanks very much for your reply. I am trying to choreograph for the song sung by Sudha Raghunathan. The song is more faster then the one that is usually sung for bharatnatyam recitals.

Hi,
I am just trying to find different expressions for the song Alaipayuthey kanna. I know that in this song his music has disturbed the nayikas mind a lot that she can't stay away from this thoughts. I am trying to find the different expressions for the Pallavi.
I always assumed that she has romantic thought when she listed to his music(alaipayuthey kanna en manam miga alaipayuthey).
Can somebody explain pls.

Laya2 - I think the point being made is that the music from krishNa's flute causes SO many thoughts (not merely romance) to arise in the nAyikA's mind that it causes intense turmoil. There is love for the murlivAlA of course, then there is fascination with the music itself, feelings of physical longing, jealousy when he ignores her and cavorts with others, etc. (Reminds me of the scene from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix where Ron says 'How can one person feel all of this at the same time?' or something like that - seems like our nAyikAs have emotional ranges that are MUCH bigger than a teaspoon!
