marakatha manimaya is not a tarangam written by narayana theertha........ it is keerthana written by oothukad venkata subhaya in which plate bit was used. This is one of the wonderful experiments of Padmabhusham Vempati chinna Satyam garu who have choreographed this piece and have encorporated plate bit in it.

I watched a new one in Kuchipudi - dance of divinity, a release by Ms Sailaja.
She performed "vikSeham kadA gopAlamUrtim" also taken from krishna lIlA tarangini.
A very vibrant one........

Ravi, nice to hear from you!
Both instances make send whereby kadA stands for "when will i see the form of gOpAla" and sadA stands for "i always admire the form of gopAla"
When they explain the meaning of the song in english before the item in the dvd, they say "when will i see gopAla". but nonetheless, it couls be the latter also......

bhavatu sadA tava smaraNam- let there be(for me) your remeberance always(let me always remember you)
C1: gangAdhara candracUDa-the one who has(wears)the rivers Ganges and the crescent moon
jagan mangaLa sarvalOka nIDa- who is auspicious for the whole world
2: kailAsAcala vASa -the one residing in the Kailasa mountain
shivakara- who is the maker of auspiciousness
purahara ,-who destroyed Pura
darahAs-who sports a smile
3: bhasmOd-dhULita dEha shambhO -Oh Lord shambu, whose body is adorned with the sacred ash
parama puruSa ; vrSavAha-whos is the supreme being, who rides the bull
4: pancAnana, phaNi bhUSa -who is the five faceted(I think it refers to Aghoram, vAmadevam etc),
who wears the snake (as an ornament)
shiva parama puruSa muni vESa-Oh Lord shiva(the auspicious one)the supreme being, who is in the garb of an ascetic

avnipriya thanq ............shiva is also called so. it also means that shiva is such god,whose deeds r spread all over the world(going for the meaning of each letter)
but can u say me why does shiva put on ashes and the cresant moon n why does he live on kailasa mountain?(i mean how did it get itz name as kailasam?)plz help me with this

Usally the above expression has been commanding the colloquial description that Lord Siva wears the river Ganges and the crescent moon. But, what was originally meant was that Lord Siva wears the AkASa gangA (the milkyway)! To emphasize the fact that it is AkASa gangA, and not the river gangA, the crescent moon is added. The crescent moon indicates the position of the 'gangA' that is referred to.
If Lord Siva can wear the whole of the milkyway (galaxy) in his matted hair, visualize His image encompassing the entire universe!

Putting on ashes:

The meaning of 'pancAnanA' is 'fierce as well as passionate', though literally it can be translated as 'five-faced'. As this literal meaning offers easier visual appeal, Lord Siva is depicted as a five-faced God, four faces facing the four directions and the fifth one facing the sky. It is explained that not only He is directly observing everything happening everywhere, but a bhakta, wherever he is located, can also see the 'face' of Lord Siva.
Over a period, different poets have given different meanings. Distinct attributes have also been designated to each face.

Similar expressions are:-
kailAsa-nikEtana = having His abode on mount kailAsa
kailAsa-sikhara-vAsin = residing on the summit of kailAsa
Yes, Lord Siva, who is omnipresent, may be declared as residing in any place. He resides in Kailas mountain in the Himalayas, as also in any temple and also in the pUja rooms of our houses/flats! It is not that he resides ONLY in Mount KailAs. Located in the Himalayas, Tibet, KailAsa is the loftiest of his abodes.
Lord Siva is also called affectionately as:-
kailAsa-nAtha = King of kailAsa mountain
kailAsa-pati = Lord of kailAsa
Mount KailAs is located north of mAnasarOvar -- mAnasa (spiritual) sarOvara (lake). MAnasarOvar, the highest fresh-water lake in the world, is believed to represent Sakti. (In Hinduism, all mountains, hills and hillocks are believed to represent God, and all rivers, lakes and ponds are believed to represent Goddess.) Thus, Mount KailAs and Lake MAnasarOvar together represent Lord Siva and Goddess Sakti.

saccidAnanda (sat+cit+Ananda) means existence+perception/consciousness+bliss, which is the supreme brahman - so, as saccidAnanda svarUpa, one who is the embodiment (svarUpa) the supreme brahman, Siva represents the cosmic energy that permeates everywhere.Chinmayee wrote:then what about sacchidananda swarupa n kailaasachala vasa?
Lord Siva not only resides in kailAS but also in cidambaram which is both a physical place, and our consciousness - cit+ambaram - the temple/hall of our consciousness - the myth is that the world will come to an end when Siva stops dancing in cidambaram, and our lives will end when he stops dancing in our consciousness..
