A request to organizers and performers:
I do not know the count of rasikAs who are keen on attending any given musician's concert the next two weekends here in the US. However, I do hear from a few wondering where in their towns and when these concerts take place! Why don't you publicize the events well? Even if you do, you don't give all the details--time, venue etc? Why not artistes give information in their own blogs? They need to know the venue, time and contact numbers too.
Rasikas Forum has a calendar. Please use it.
If you think the temple publishes the concert, that's not enough, I'm afraid. Not all rasikAs are regular temple-goers.
I am not the only one who is harping on this. I see several posts and get personal mail asking about events. Wish I knew!
We have two more weekends of 'Pre-Music Season Chennai' in the US.
RasikAs on their part may write to the artistes themselves and ask for details. Whether they answer or not is something I don't know--just as it is with chits, I suppose :)

To the best of my knowledge RKSK, Sanjay,Suryaprakash and bangalore shankar are right now in the US .

Only suryaprakash has updated the website with few more concerts that has just been booked in the last few weeks (http://www.rsuryaprakash.com/schedule.php).

Sanjay the only thing available is his flight schedule , so with that you all have to figure out. He has not updated the blog.

RKSK or shankar do not have a website or a blog .

I suggest those who attend concerts in US do some kind of passing the baton where when you post the review(which is usually a miracle) , always tell the next concert of the artist . That way the relay works well without unnecessary new leaf post.

Rajesh,

Bangalore Shankar is scheduled to perform in San Antonio and Houston (Texas) in December and Augusta and Atlanta (Georgia) in January.

I will confirm the dates in a day or two and post again.

BTW, Bangalore Shankar has a website but it is not regularly updated.
Please checkout www.sshankar.com
You will enjoy listening to more of Shankar on the website.

Given the fact that most of the concerts are organized by different sabhas or other entities, it is perhaps too much to expect everyone to update a central calendar. However, I don't understand rasikas in a particular city not being able to find where a concert is. They must be familiar with the music organization in their own city, and can ask them directly?

In the New York area, Shruti Laya (http://www.shrutilaya.org) regularly holds concerts as well as publishes listings of concerts and other music/dance events in the vicinity.

Sreenadh, You will know this better than me, but I thought there is some central organization which works with all the local organizations in setting up the schedule, travel plans etc. If so, I do not understand why the artist can not obtain that info and publish it at the artist web site. May be there are good reasons but it can not be due to lack of information. For exampe, as it was pointed out earlier, Sanjay's full travel schedule was on the internet ( intentional or not ) but not his concert schedule.

The local organization method works to some extent. In my area there are at least 4 different organizations including the two temples. In addition, there are 3 or 4 that occasionally organize CM concerts. So when I hear artist XYZ is touring the U.S. I have to check with all of them. In this day and age, I do not understand why all this difficulty in getting the information out.

You are doing a good job with Shrutilaya. Congratulations.

To put this in perspective, this is a little like a rasika in Chennai wanting to know Sanjay's concert schedule in Bangalore or Delhi. You're right, though, there should be a better way of collating and posting this information. Sometimes the organizers of the tour do it (at least partially, like the IACRF website with Sanjay's travel schedule). But the only reliable method seems to be the local organization approach. I know there is an organization collecting and emailing info for NJ events (in different venues and organized by different societies) and I'm sure there are others like it in most areas ..

Sorry! These are the only concerts confirmed for Sri. Shankar. He has already given two concerts in Detroit, one in October and one in November.
