I am told that Sri Jayadevar wrote the Ashtapathis in Oriyalanguage and later on savants like Sridhara Ayyaval, Marudanallur Swmigal rewrote tham in Sanskrit and set them to tunes now followed by the popular Bajana Sampradayam groups like Pudukottah, Udumalaipet etc. Is it correct?

No, several manuscripts of jayadeva's Sanskrit original are available, from places as far apart as travancore, rajasthan and Kashmir.

Jayadeva like kALidasa, is one of few representatives of Indian culture, who enjoys nationwide celebrity.

Shouldn't it be ashTapadi? A meter with 8 lines?

Yes original Sanskrit Ashtapadi verses very much by Jayadeva.
Ragams and mettus used in bhajana sampradaya set by Marudanallur bhagavatar.

When people of Orissa recite the ashtapadi, they do pronounce words in Oriya accent
