May the Amman, Thaayaar Annapoorne's full kadaaksham be on this child now and for ever. He is nothing but the incarnation of Sri Dikshithar himself!
What Bhavam, what devotion in his play and most of all, what confidence!!
After seeing this exhibition of talent, I give up my violin playing completely!!

Truly amazing. At the first instance his parents and his teacher must be congratulated for their sincere efforts. Unless he has full Kataksham of Lord Shiva it is not at all possible to do so. I heartily wish him a bright dedicated future.
Dear Sam Swaminathan - With this inspiration you must work hard and try your level best.

great work by Master Kamalkiran Vinjamuri (student of Subhash Vinjamuri and A Kanyakumari). I think he is aged about 11.

Stupendous! Looking at his fingers (not just fly but) cradle and caress the violin with such deftness makes him seem like they are born for each other. Bless him!
Looks like he is from the US (from the videos). The name Vinjamuri makes me wonder if he is from VidvAn Vinjamuri Varadraja Iyengar's family...
Kamala kiran to whom music is like sun's rays to make him blossom like a lotus when he picks up that violin.

Indeed. Thanks gn.sn42.
One can watch all his you tube videos under his youtube login here: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=vsk ... iew=videos
Even in 2007, when he was 9 years old, his begada sounds pretty good. There is a video of him playing the keyboard too.
Playing music on any instrument seems to come so naturally to him.

For a youngster to capture the spirit of Muthuswamy Dikshitar's kriti, and play it at the right vilamba-kala speed, that is truly amazing. There are many talented youngsters today, who are technically impeccable in their playing. But this child incorporates ghanam-nayam, tenderness, feeling - amazing, indeed!
Let us think positively about his future. I am sure he will rise to great heights!
Bless you, Kamalakiran, God bless you!

Thanks Shankar!
I see rough edges in his playing as an accompanist. I guess his manodharma clashes with that of the vocalist. I have no doubt he will be superb as a soloist! As Radhika says he amazes on his MD kritis on his own with unbeatable fluency. Not that everybody should be an accompanist too! Perhaps time willl tell. I wish him well!

I have lost count of the number of times I have seen the "Annapoorne" video. I am totally transfixed by this child's playing. There is no question he is going to go places. As remarked by some one else, the blessing has come from none other than our genius guru Sri Akella Sharmaji. Vasishtar vaayaal bramma rishi pattam !!
The child is very sharp....just before the end of pallavi, he looks at the audience, where some one, perhaps, the mother, is telling him not to wait for the theermanam...he understands the instruction, gives a side glance at the mridangist, acknowledges that he has also understood it, completes the avarthanam and launches into anupallavi....not one glance at his bow running over the strings, or at his fingers....every thing is working like a well oiled machinery........
For all the professionalism exhibited, he remained a child to the end....watch the end of the video....that offending hair on the forehead had been bothering him from the word go and he had no time to put it in place! Song had to be played to perfection and that was the instruction from both mummy and the teacher. Hair had to wait! At the end, when it was all over, first act of his was to push the hair aside and give it a second go so that it will stay in its place..and then there is that look..."what is all the commotion in the auditorium?"....a look at mum again...saying... can I go to the next item? A child with a mission !!

Dear brother-member, Sam Swaminathan, Your narration is excellent. This kid is playing Violin exceedingly well to his age. In my several experiments on the aspirants I found all the kids are ‘clean slates’ and many of these kids do wonders if they are taught, initiated and guided properly by a highly experienced Violin-teacher-cum-performer. You may become surprised about insisting upon a ‘Violin-teacher’. The main difference with a Violinist is while all others do their jobs on ther own a Violinist, mostly being an accompanist, cannot do things on his own but inevitably follow the main artist. That itself makes all the difference in becoming a successful accompanist. If such a teacher, parents and the kid, being a small kid himself, do the best many kids can do wonders. But, presently, very few kids are coming out and others are failing due to the influence of the incapacities of one or other among them in the absence of an yardstick to assess the levels of standards of this fine art. More over, adding fuel to the fire, even in the interest of our own kids, no one tries to bell the cat of organising for the elaborate discussions on teaching techniques of our classical music except depending upon the traditional age old methods. amsharma

I don't know if all the accolades showered on this kid is justified. But he is certainly above average and shows lot of potential, although I noticed thala problems with him in the you tube clippings. That is not important. But let us look into future..................

Sadananthan: It is fine to take a counter-opinion on this topic but let us not hijack the thread with controversies. Your past posts have sufficiently captured your opinions on such matters and that is sufficient. You do not have to bring them to light on every opportunity and in unrelated threads.
Any further discussion on your post by you or by others outside the main topic of this thread will be deleted without notice.

Dear brother-member, sadananthan, As you wrote he is certainly above the average and shows lot of potential to be nourished rhythm-wise properly. But, unfortunately, our people are used to give the last and the least preference for rhythmical intricacies. We have to wait and see in which way he picks up and responds for rhythmical intricacies. amsharma

It would be best to rename this thread as "Kamalakiran Vinjamuri" and move this thread to vidwans and vidushis topic please. That way it is easily searchable.
Don't you think it is a bit premature (no pun please) to shift this thread to vidwans and vidushis

cmlover, Prodigy Oh no, please do not do that. A few of our children bashing forumites who I have not heard from in a long time will come out of the woodworks and will trash this thread and stir up a controversy, at which point the mods will have no choice but to close the thread. Has happened many times in the past. We all can see he is good. let him develop and mature in his own sweet time.

vk/cml/svapnaa,
Titles and bucketizing will be good for future references. After few years another new poster will join and then post the same link of kamalakiran. As such the request is only for better housekeeping . We have had nearly the same age of artists having a separate thread in vidwans and vidushis.
Also remember we have had close to 45 posts ,so it is good to keep it organized that way. Moving forward I am sure we will have another 30 posts of this amazing kid.
mods,
Choice is purely yours , mine is a better suggestion considering medium to long term.
