The response for last month's Samvada between Shri R K Shrikantan and Chitravina Shri N Ravikiran was overwhelming.
We continue the series this month with a conversation between 2 great Mridanga Vidvans.
Sangita Kalanidhi Shri T.K. Murthy
in conversation with
Palghat Shri T.R. Rajamani
On 18th September @ 6:30 PM
Kasturi Srinivasan Hall (Music Academy, Mini Hall)
All are welcome!

Rithvik - the conversation series is a good idea. It would be great if these are recorded (video or audio) and shared on the internet so they can reach the global Carnatic music lovers.
Also, I am sure have Sampradaya are (or are considering) digitizing its collection. Are there any plans to make select recordings available online? The online recordings could be made available to financial members. I am sure this will be a good avenue to raise funds for the organisation and will connect Sampradaya to people located outside Chennai.

While I applaud all these initiatives, but holding a prime 06:30 pm slot for this conversation, appears as a case of a deserving musician to lose his singing oppurtunity. Say if this conversation is from 5 to 7pm and then if there is a followup concert from 7pm to 9pm, I have no qualms.
Overall I see in the name of banners safegaurding sampradaya and likes, slowly music is getting morphed to speeches and recollections of glories of past.
In that exercise very few musicians who are regularly in limelight with their performances get some more PR exercise , but many many of them without these connections are not given a chance to even perform , for months to come.

rajeshnat,
Sampradaya has archival recordings several great musicians who were not much popular in the concert circuit.
TK Murthy is a legend among us with 70+ years of concert experience and it is useful to listen his perspectives and have an archival recording for posterity. TK Murthy is going to be interviewed by another maestro, the son of Palghat Mani Iyer.
As with the RK Srikantan interview and the thread, the rasikas (in the interest of innovation) need not agree with TK Murthy and discard his observations.
Arranging concerts of musicians who may not have connections, should be one of the causes taken by rasikas at large.

I take rajeshnat's point that music is the most important thing, but I do think that there is room for the talking events, and I do feel that a lot of working people, for instance, would feel excluded if these were all to be in afternoon slots.
I assume the conversation with Sri TKM will be in Tamil?
Anyway, I might pop in to soak up some of the presence...
