Is 14 A (10) or (6) ?

Also check 13 A whether it is (5) or (6) . 6 is fine if moved a bit up ?- but it would clash
or may be my answer is wrong : )

oops. 14A should (obviously) be 6.

13A is 6 only

hmm.. 13 A (6) is fine but it doesn't match my 6D which i'm pretty sure.
For now I'll shift the 13A boxes to the right by one :)

never mind!

Ah! got it ! Arun was not wrong

Suji - mail me your 6D and 13A if you wish.

Also, there is another typo 9A should be (12) and not (11).

Made a first round try got all excepting 1 D, 13A and 15 Across (no clues needed please till I ask explicitly).

I also think you need to shift 4 Down to one place right as it has to intersect with 9 Across in the 2nd position instead of 1st position. Can you cross check that please?

DONT REVEAL THE ANSWERS TILL GIVING a 1 DAY TIE THE PAPER POST, PLEASE.

Rajesh,

Take your time - I will post at the earliest only by the end of the weekend (US time) - if not maybe into Monday morning (again US time).

There is no mistake in the grid - but some of the answers have have various spelling possibilities and this may throw some people off.

I confirmed 13 A to be (5). No harm in having (6) though

Arun,

4Down I respelled it , I am sure that is one clue that your daughter will be able to surely solve :)

Solved 15 Across , Arun's pet area.

For 13 Across ,I am kind of 50-50 , I am assuming it is more of mannarkoil balaji and erode nagarajan stuff , Anyway I am going to jump ;) on that and get it

1 Down is only killing me , "dead on arrival - who deeply disturbed him". No clues please I have tied the paper , have time for another day just bang for few more hours and try to get it.

How about others other than suji? What about Ragam-Thalam and naarayanan and others . This crossword appears like nadaswaram concert in chennai.

Yes - one could say that the word chaste has a "double meaning" here in that the required spelling could be called chaste :) ?

For 13 Across ,I am kind of 50-50 , I am assuming it is more of mannarkoil balaji and erode nagarajan stuff , Anyway I am going to jump ;) on that and get it
Not quite - although your answer would fit the grid.

rajesh, i got only 10 out of 15 correct. trying on the rest. 1 is getting on my nerves really. but when solved, it will laugh at us 'were you struggling so hard for this?'

arun, you are absolutely right when u said 'enaku kekka mattum than theriyum'. when we start creating crosswords, we lose our solving ability, it seems. :)

Guessed 13 Across may be I will be lucky there.
1 Down is absolutely gone case , just guessed as one rAgam , I am wrong. That is greek and latin to me.
Mailed you the answers , you can wait till suji and narayanan and anyothers wrap it up with answers.

Suji/narayanan,
Did you get that super tough 1 down , may be if both of you have not got it , we all can complain to arun that it is out of syllabus ;) I am assuming you both would have got 13 across , since I am layam impaired I guessed that but not sure.

I got 13 A for sure. Nothing much to do with laya. As I wrote try 5 lettered word rather than 6
1 D I am guessing it is a rare one. I think I am in "deep" trouble this time.

chowdiah - with just doa, arun u r expecting too much of me!! of course i had 'i' of harikambhoji but still cud not arrive at it.

korvai, jhanta, and cetah sri also was a bit tough for me. i got the anagram clue chaste ri and was fighting with it a little. but i have not heard the dwijavanthi kriti. so failed. 11 out of 15. not a bad score though.

on the whole, was a very good brain teaser.

oops. I didnt type the explanation for 1D correctly. It should have been

The letters DOA (common abbreviation for Dead on arrival) and which, when rearranged (deeply disturbed) gives the answer which stands for a famous violin vidwan.

With you mentioning Him for the clue, yesterday night I got it as chowdiah. Kind of partially confirmed after suji's reference to fiddle in the morning . I STILL did not get the DOA and deeply disturbed connection.Your previous post #26 is not helping me to crack the clue.

13A I guessed it as jhampa and not as jhanta, I thought we say jhanta as crowd , never knew it had any military connection.

Rest I got it I initially spelled chetasri or cetashri then after being sure with harikAmbhoji I spelled it as cetahsri

In any case score is just 13/15. Suji did you score 100% or did you miss atleast one.

(deeply) disturbed => as in disturbed the existing arrangement of letters. It is another word cryptic crosswords use to hint at jumble.

Arun, where are the answers posted? Or is it too early to ask? I am not very good at cryptic puzzles, so I have a vague set of answers, would like to verify them. Also the answers to the previous puzzles would also be handy to have.

Thanks.

Mahesh,

For this one follow the link mentioned in post #19 above. For all the others, if you look at the comments section under each of the puzzle, towards the end, there should be a comment that has a "link" to the solution post. Something like:

Where the underlined part (it wont appear underlined in the blog) is a link to the solution.

I guess I should perhaps add an explicit link in the post itself to make it clearer.

Arun,

Step back , the clue is Dead on arrival - which deeply disturbed him (8)
Possibly DOA I can extrapolate may be doa of chowdiah. How to get the remaining jumble chwdih. I still get it , perhaps I am tubelight here ;) . Explain please?

DOA WHICH <=> CHOWDIAH

Dead on arrival i.e. DOA (and) which, (when) deeply disturbed (gives) him

100 % for me Rajesh. :)
Unscramble which and DOA.
I googled dead on arrival and confirmed it is an abbreviation.

O now I get that . Slowly i am learning the deceiving tricks of arunk, for example in this crossword when he mentioned sixth and pensylvannia, I immediately put PA and VI , hence easily got pallavi

hi arun, anything on the pipeline? people miss your crosswords very much, and that includes me also.

when sachin plays mcgrath and brett lee cricket looks like childplay. we know his greatness only when we see lesser mortals struggle to play these quickies.

similarly, after my crosswords, people are expecting a good one from you. :)

Thanks narayanan. I am flattered. Other pressing commitments are keeping me busy now - but soon I should be able to come up with something.
