This is the ISa sandhi kauttuvam (kavuttuvamE) that describes ISANa, a manifestation of the mighty (parama) Siva, depicted by holding the hasta mudra of tripatAka/tirupatAka in the right hand, and simhamukha (simha) on the left [1], who showers his grace (aruL Seyyum) on his devotees (aDiyavarkku) while guarding the (adanil) the north-eastern (ISAnya) direction (dikku), wielding a trident (triSUlam), mounted on a vehicle (vAhanam) that is (adAgavE) a bull/nandi (rishabham), accompanied (sahitamAi) by pAravti (ISvarI), propitiated by the gods (sura) and demons (asura), sages (muni), ascetics (rishigaL), the moon (indu) and the sun (ravi), the Siva gaNas, the kimpurushas [2] with (uDan) the music (gAnamum) of the heavenly choristers (gandharva), with bhRingi [3] in attendance, along with the demon (Asura) bANa [4], while the heavenly nymph, the lady (mAdu) UrvaSi dances (naTanam) the bhramari nrittam, as the drummer, mRdangi plays the solkaTTu ‘tat dhit tai’ set to a rhythm cycle (tALam) called ‘aruL’, on the instrument (vAdyam), AcAna hanumakumbha [5], accompanying the melody (gItam), malahari, the tune (paNN) for which will be (Agum) AndALi.

[3] a naTa is a practitioner of the nATya vEda (a performer adept at acting, music and dancing). bhRngi is a very special devotee of Siva - however, I am not aware of a reference to him as a practitioner of the nATya vEda
[4] bANAsura, the grandson of prahlAda was a great devotee of Siva - his daughter ushA (who learnt lAsya from pArvati herself) married krishNa’s grandson, aniruddha, secretly, leading to war between krishNa and bANAsura, leading to the latters defeat
