I am A new member. Yesterday and today I happen to listen to two concerts ,one by Sumithra Nitin and the next is Geetha Murthy singing exclusively GNB,s compositions on the occasion of GNB Centenary festival organised by ,Neelambari, an association consists odf the students of Neela ramgopal,a veteran.at Sri Rama Lalitha mandir.Bangalore. Both were rich in ,Bhava, and diction was noteworthy. The way they sang made everybody happy and inspired and the accompanying artists were extremely nice and raised the standard of the concert in every point. The net result the concerts were wholesome.Neela Ramgopal spoke a few words about the contribution of GNB to the modern carnatic music.Sunday spent usefully.

Thank you. My hope is to use this community to inspire me to take my music to the next level.
In that regard, I have a couple of questions:
a) Is there a place on this forum where members can point to their music renditions to get feedback from others? I would love to listen to other members' music and get feedback on mine.
b) Is there a notion of forum ragam of the week/month etc. where all members focus on a particular ragam/song and probably point to their renditions at the end of the time period? (I am part of a visual art forum that does something like this and find it incredibly helpful)

Namaste,
I just signed up. This is indeed a vidwat sadas. I'm sure I'm going to find this an exciting and learning experience with all the informed rasikas in the forum.
Just as an intro: In my five decades of concertgoing, I find that my interest in traditional Carnatic vocal is increasing all the time. Am also interested in related genres like Tamil Isai, devaranama, annamayya kirtana's and abhangs.

Hi all,
Myself, Ravikiran from Bangalore. Was active few years back in few carnatic forums/discissions, but frequent travels kept me away from discussions for quite sometime. Now, settled down in bangalore & hope to get back to stream"¦!
I did learn carnatic vocal from my parents & later switched over to mridangam as ppl said they cannot listen to me..!
Learnt mridangam from Vidwan Sri Kanchana V Murthy till vidwat. Later during my stay in mysore/bangalore I learnt from Vidwan Sri Karaikudi Mani. Had given some concerts too, but now a days I am just a good listener..!
Nice to be back & hope to learn more about carnatic music thru these discussions.

Exactly! We also have gravikiran, a promising vocalist (student of RKS and TMK). You will find him playing the tambura for TMK in a recent concert (Concert Reviews section). He is also a host on the World Space radio and also lives in Bengaluru! Not forgetting a distinguished member of the forum--Uday, a student of chitravInA Ravikiran!
Welcome, ravikiran.g!
Rajesh,
I see another Rajesh on the forum now!
