Ramnad Krishnan needs to be complimented{posthumously) for popularising Patnam's compositions.coolkarni wrote:Thinking of all those other Orphaned compositions !!!!
When Mansoor was asked why he sang only rare ragas , he had remarked :
Well Yaman , Malkauns.... they are all in good hands .They dont need nourishment. But what about Khat, Khokar ....I have an obligation to nourish them...Poor ones.Who will take care of them ?
nEjEsina;dhanyudEVado;varamulosage came out to circulation due to his excellent handling of these compositions.
Even the Devagandhari song " Thulasamma " of Thyagaraja which is rarely sung, RK has sung so excellently. His kala pramanam which has such an enjoyable sowkhyam.

Dhanyudevvado (as mentioned by others)... Ramnad Krishnan's renditions of this song are the best. There is one AIR concert with LGJ/UKS sir where he has sung this very elaborately, with niraval+swaram in the charanam.
Also, DayajoochutakidivELarA - there is a great recording of TNS sir singing this (Dayton 1992 if I remember correctly)- he sing the krithi very briskly and with a chittaswaram. The kalpana swarams at the end also serve to outline the structure and uniqueness of the ragam.

R is certainly going to bring a truckload of songs! How many rAma-beginnings by T alone!
Yes, CML,
dharma shravaNa too! There are so many songs that I love that every time someone mentions something which I didn't recollect, I realize how much I love the song too. The more I see the lists, the more I realize that you cannot really narrow down your choice.
However, certain songs are mentioned often. Will that list make it the classic favorites list?

There is a Chota Khayal which I enjoy, sung by MS & Radha in the Boston Concert - 1977. "Darshan de do Shankara - Mahadeva" . They had learnt this composition from the reputed Hindustani vocalist - Dr M.R.Gautam (& this was sung only once in a concert, to the best of my knowledge)

dIna karuNAkaranE is in yaman not navarOz, possibly you just crossed krishna mukundA murarE - navarOz. FYI to the best of my knowledge Shri DKJ first popularized dIna karuNAkaranE in concerts.
