I do not recall downloading that video. Would like to view that concert or part of it.BTW Rahul is the sweet face which worked as a backdrop to M Chandru in the Manakkal concert at Mantras place.Members who downloaded that Video will remember a face that never took it's eyes off the Violin Maestro smile

Dear Rasikas,
I wish to express my sincere thanks to all the forumites who visited my new house on 4th July evening for the concerts.
My sincere thanks are also due to Coolji for extending invitation for the function to all the rasikas members through the forum on my behalf and also for putting up the information here about the concerts.
These concerts were organised as part of the celebration of the Grahapravesam of my new house. This has been constructed where my old house once stood.
I will give details about the two great artistes Sri Kunjumani Bhagavathar and Kurudi Venkannachar who performed on 4th July in a separate post. Sri Venkannachar was performimg in Chennai after 30 years. He last performed at Music academy. I will also upload the songs after taking the artistes' permission very shortly.
I am very happy to read some good reviews about my new house. I thank the members for their compliments. Actually we started the construction with some ideas. As it progressed it took a life of its own and moved in several directions as it pleased. I shouldnt take the credit for the way it ended up. Once it was over, I found that it was in this shape.
I am specially indebted to Nick and his wife for staying on till the very end inspite of some important work in his house.
Last but not the least to Erodeji for agreeing to perform on the occasion. It was a tremendous performance by him and was well appreciated and applauded by a few laya vidwans who were present in the audience.Same to Rahul, who agreed to come down at a very short notice.

I have uploaded the first song of the concert sung by Kunjumani Bhagavathar
in the here
http://www.mediafire.com/?tbu1z1dtydz
I will keep uploading the songs sung by him during the evening.
The song here is the song Uyndhadhu Uyndhadhen Maname-Devamanohari-Adi
Sri Papanasam Kunjumani Bhagavathar is an authority on the Oothukkadu kritis. He is the nephew ( Brothers son) of the great tamil composer Papanasam Sivan and learnt music from him.Later he came under the tutelage of Sri Needamangalam krishnamurthy Bhagavathar. Sri Needamangalam Bhagavathar was a direct descendent of the celebrated composer Uthukkadu Venkata Kavi. It was Needamangalam Krishnamurthy Bhagavathar who brought to light and popularised the kritis of Uthukkadu Venkatakavi and gave us the treasure of the compositions of the great poet composer.
He has given innumerable number of concerts alongwith Needamangalam krishnamurthy Bhagavathar, who was also a great harikatha exponent, over a period of more than two decades, all over the country. He has learnt almost all the kritis of the bard from him. Today he is the most authentic source of the Uthukkadu kritis living with us and some of the famous musicians have learnt them from him.
He has been very kind to come and perform in my house on my request the krithis of Uthukkadu Venkata Kavi as the first of a series.
I will be soon uploading the other kritis.
I am hopeful of having him sing many more of the kritis in the near future.
I have been trying to compile the kritis of this great composer and create an archive of the kritis which will be a accessible to all those interested in the songs. This is a first attempt to bring to light some of the rare kritis of the composer. We all know the famous ones like Alai Payuthe, Adadhu Asangadhu Vaa kanna, Pullai Piravi Thara Vendum etc. The plan is to get together almost all the kritis of Venkata Kavi and create an archive for the present and posterity to hear, learn and sing the wonderful songs certified version of this great composer.
Sri Kunjumani Bhagavathar is a multifaceted personality and an equally accepted authority on several
other subjects. He is a self effacing person and that perhaps is the reason for his relative anonimity.
Another possible reason is that he retired as a senior executive in a leading company and so not fully available to the concert circles.
We requested him to sing as many songs as possible. He felt that with the presence of such quality accompanists it would not be fair to them and so took some time for alapanas. At our request to get many rare songs, the usual concert padhathi was discarded.
He ended the concert after two hours as it was a long evening with a promise to come again to sing more.

We were very happy to receive your hospitality, and I'm glad that we did stay for the much of the second performance of the evening; it would have been a shame to miss it.
I was keeping quiet about it this year, and probably will for the next two as well, as the numbers between here and the next big ___-zero are rather boring ones, but I was celebrating my birthday as well. I try for at least one of two things on that day; boats or music!
Unfortunately there was, for us, a background noise of some unexpected home repairs, such as a burnt-out 3-phase supply, as well as expected ones such as yet another attempt to make our terrace roof waterproof! We should have had the sense to build new!
It would be nice to hear from Cool about his plans, or absence of same. His ideas, such as the veena season, are mouthwatering; if he chooses, or finds it necessary, not to go ahead, that will be sad, but I remain glad for what has happened already.
