hi, i managed to attend today's concert of prashant. if i have to explain it in a word (though it's rather difficult)...... i can say it was 'CRISP'!! being a working day for me, after the concert i had to rush back to office without meeting other members who might have been present today.
i entered the concert when prashant was rendering 'nadasudha' in arabhi. the tempo for anandabhairavi composition was on the spot!! it was really appreciable of prashant having chosen purandara dasa's krithi as the main rendition. prashant, ur swara prasthara was marvellous and was truly innovative. though thani was a very scholarly exhibition of percussion ensemble, i personally thought there was slight acceleration. overall, a superb start to a sunday! kudos prashant...

Great concert Prashant. I especially liked the dhanyasi MD peice. Wonderfully rendered !!!
Overall I felt the concert was like a DK Pattamal concert, with nothing being overdone, everything being done grammatically right, and no liberties being taken in raga alapanas.. balanced and crisp..
Well done!!!

It'll be very nice if anyone can help me out with some contact numbers or emails.
Also, prashant, if you don't mind, can you please email me your contact number? would like to talk to you more on my upcoming concert. My email id is [email protected]

Niranjan: One way is to upload it to a site like http://www.tinypic.com/ and post the resulting link here. If you surround the link with IMG tags, it will show up inline.

I guess Sudha, Aruna and Vijay haven't performed at SFAS for quite sometime..To my knowledge its been more than three years, which is surprising..Surprisingly TMK again..He came in Feb during the Guru-Shishya series..I guess they could have called some instrumentalist like KSG or may be E Gayatri on the veena...

Hi everybody, This sudden lull in our mumbai forum has prolonged quite a bit!! so decided to break it............ hope all are doing well.
As vaidehi already has broken the news, i'll be performing a Carnatic Flute recital at the talent promotion concert series at Shanmukhananda Fine arts society on Sunday 28th June'09 from 6.30pm to 9.30pm. Venue is Jasubhai convention hall. This would be my maiden appearance in the Mumbai concert scene. So would appreciate if you all could make it to the concert. Will let you know about the accompaniments in due course.
any reviews/ updates about other events??

A bump up for this concert which will be held on Saturday. Hope Mumbai rasikas attend in large numbers.prashant wrote: The 5th Sri S. U. Sitaram Memorial Concert will be held at the Fine Arts Society, Chembur, on October 17, 2009 at 6:30 PM. The previous performers in this series have been Sangita Kalanidhis Sri Nedunuri Krishnamurthy and Smt. R. Vedavalli, Sri N. Vijay Siva and Smt. Bombay Jayashri. This year's programme:
Sri N. Vijay Siva & Sri T. M. Krishna - Vocal Duet
Kum. Amritha Murali - Violin
Sri N. Manoj Siva - Mrudangam
Sri B. S. Purushothaman - Khanjira
Mumbai residents, please mark your calendars for what is sure to be a memorable evening of high-quality music.
This is the maiden Mumbai performance of Sri Vijay Siva and Sri T. M. Krishna singing as a duo. Our family and the Fine Arts Society are very excited to present this rare opportunity to listen two of today's front-line vocalists performing together.

Prashant,
that is a double treat!
With RKSK, MS, and BSP we are in for a grand feast.
Thanks for arranging this and informing us.
But it is too advance an intimation; We have to really mark our calendars.

WOW! Prashant - the eternal request for recordings are sure to dog you - so let me start!!!
And to be fair to the artists (especially since you have so much lead time), may be, you can interest people like Charubala (the 'Char' of Charsur I presume) or anyone else for that matter to bring it out as a commercial recording!

Will try, Ravi! Have to speak with the artistes first and ascertain their opinion on these matters...rshankar wrote:WOW! Prashant - the eternal request for recordings are sure to dog you - so let me start!!!

Arasi,
Ravi's suggestion to invite a commercial recording is a good one. Prashant, your grandfather would've been mighty proud of this initiative to get two leading performers on the stage together, and would certainly have been proud of your singing as well!
