it was shocking to know that i watched a serial named dance india dance repeat telecasted at zee tv on 21stmay 09 at 6pm which was choreographed by geeta kapoor and performed by sunita and sidesh was very much embarassing for classical dancers and dance lovers to know that they were performing on chuma dede chuma dede a bollywood song in kathakali costume using the mudras.

Well I had watched this episode and the dance used for such songs... I dont really agree.... to use classical dance moves on bollywood dance....is a disgrace...however...doing a contemporary indian dance is another thing...

but thats my view....

I agree with both of you. It is also quite disturbing to hear some lude film songs that are set to the same tune as venkatesa suprabatham. It would be better if we respect our traditions, and not dilute the bhakti bhava that is predominant in these art forms.

do u not think that we as a team of classical dancers, as one unit, should approach the zee tv and dance india dance people and tell them that wat they did is wrong. this is not the first time that such things have been on tv, but no one has ever objected. in the name of experiment, everything is tolerated. iam not a moral police. but as a classical dancer iam hurt, and not angered. one who dances knows that its a spiritual offering, something from the soul to the supreme. there wll be arguments, but if u all are with me, iam willing to do the job of approaching them and telling them. does any of u know where to call/ email and whom to take this issue up with?

Alternatively, the approach can be made through establshed senior dancers, who wold be able to
exercise better influence and judgement into the unwanted novelties and experimentations.

@above, not to forget the gayatri mantra set as ringtones and et al. i dont see the senior dancers are hurt as much and i dont see much response in this forum. if i have u all with me, then iam going to call the channel on wednesday. do i have u all with me. i need some response u see, if u all do or dont share what i feel or is wat iam doing right? one more thing that hurts me alot to see is the dancers dressed as brahmins with small hair piece and dhoti etc, dancing funny. i really dont mean to get religious here, but common man, u dont see any other ethnic population being made to dance that way.
