Yes Srinivasrgvn is glowing , a year back we had bilahari , now with bilahari in hibernation in sandiego , srinivasrgvn is our new best pick poster of rasikA.
Srinivasrgvn
On this relished report , it is just early days to comment. I prefer you to have it as at the most 13 week serial , instead of year or 5 year long serials like TV serials. Two per week of posting will do, as you get the right continuity and more of us will read. (1 per week ,we will lose our continuity, 3 or more is too much of post). Keep it going, you are rocking.

Come on and tell us where the duo is!! She atlast mentioned something about the accompanists - "On the violin, we have Smt. Lalgudi Jaya Raman"¦ along with her husband Sri Raman on the mridangam are coming back to the stage after a long gap of 10 years"¦"¦ The ghatam vidhwan, Umayalapuram Siva is "¦"¦"¦"¦.."

srinivasrgvn,
You are keeping us in suspense! I am flattered, but of all the Bilahari pieces, what made you think of an obscure little song? That isn't even found in Sumitra's Arasi CD. She sang it when the CD was released. Rajesh and VK heard it. Were you there?
As for my being a perfectionist...that day will not come, I'm afraid

anyone who reads multiple forums knows that the first button you search for is the 'mark forums read' button. being new here, and not being able to keep up with all the new posts i initially missed this thread with a sweeping mark forums read.
after reading through, now i have mixed feelings. on the one hand, i actually laughed out loud - not just a mere 'lol' for posterity's sake - please do keep writing!
on the other hand, you seem to effortlessly write in a happy tone, like the ragas you used in your piece. i suffer from writer's envy

srinivasrvgn - your writing made delightful reading...very well expressed, keeping all of us readers on tenter hooks..glad that after all the misconstrued hype and build, you actually braved it and sat thro the concert to realise it was worth your time after all....only goes to say that its still the heavy weights who control the audience and music scene....we have to wait and also work towards an audience that congregates to listen to great music from just about any musician

Sorry, Suji. And you played it too, didn't you?! I was just thinking about those who were there in Chennai that evening. Cool was there too, at least for the first few songs and had to leave before bilahari because of an emergency. Uday listened to it as well when Jayalakshmi Santhanam sang it this season.
Bilahari,
Thanks for listening to nATyamADO. Sumitra sings it very well, and if you don't know--it was she who started it all. She asked for a song on Siva in kannaDa to sing in a SivarAtri concert. I had none. She said I could compose one. I said it doesn't happen that way, a song made to order. I got the song the next morning, she sang it the next week!
I don't know if someone can upload it. If not, I will try and send it to you.

RELISHED RAPPORTS PART 4:
The overwhelmed duo rushed back home and informed their grandchildren about this great competition. Shriya, the granddaughter of Govindan, was in Class X and Hari, Ram’s grandson was in class IX. Both are learning vocal for the past 8 years. Hence, they did know a lot of kritis. Their teacher, Raghavan, was a professional performer. He belonged to the Musiri School and taught the students in that style. He was also enthusiastic and wanted the children to participate and win prizes. Shriya and Hari had won many prizes in competitions but those competitions were trivial compared to this one. Karpagam Sabha’s competition was challenging and required a lot of effort. The children were eager only to win prizes. The wise guru advised, "Children! Participating in a competition is not for winning prizes. It is a good exposure for you both and you will get to meet so many other children of your age. It is a place to observe and gain knowledge. Hence, your participation is much more appreciated than your winning. Winning is secondary."

RELISHED RAPPORTS PART 5:
All of them were frantic! They went through their library of books on music and searched for all types of information about composers and their compositions. The World Wide Web lent a helping hand to them by supplying loads of data. Shriya and Hari were edgy and it was like preparing for an exam!! They harvested the information and stored them into their memories. A whole 3 days went into the preparation and there were only two weeks left. They still had to decide on the Dikshithar compositions! Hari had to choose an Oothukkadu song also. He had two choices - "Madhava Hrudi"

shrinivasgvn,
Unfortunately shriya and hari got up early, hope they dont feel tired just before the competition and lose their stamina . I am also jittery with their start in melakartha 65. Meanwhile I will call smt suguna purushOtaman, OST and veena gAyatri and try to help our participants and ask them not to take the first kalyAni too seriously, they do know as this is a very difficult rAga to impress , but I will gently remind them .

Yes! I meant the parents! At least I do not have the stomach for yet another spar with the 'nagging' parents who would have 'pushed' their kids; yet another episode of child labour
At least shriya and hari appear to be self-motivated though being pushed by their grandparents but being silently monitored by the Tambura and Shruti box. Poor kids! must have lost a lot of sleep and play time these days
Win or lose you are still our darlings! Ask uncle to record your performance and post it here for us to relish! Just make sure that you don't mangle the sahitya even if you don't fully understand the meanings

Thanks a lot to all of you who have commented.
cmlover, you are right - I do need active feedback to improve myself. But, after analyzing the view counts, there seems to be quite a good response. The first 2 parts recorded only around 100-150 Views. But from the 3rd part, the number has been increasing rapidly. This 5th part's view count is an all-time high 200 on the first day itself!! I have to thank all the members of rasikas.org for making this possible. Thanks!!

We not only read you but also seed you with ideas
You finish each episode with the flourish of a detective novel. Do let us know if you have published stories elsewhere. I would love to read them. By the by you may be knowing our 'arasi' is a good novelist in addition to being a great poet/vaggeyakaraka.
Keep going! You are keeping us on our toes!

Thanks rajeshnat and CML, for the encouraging comments!!
CML, I really have to thank you personally for writing feedback constantly and encouraging budding writers. And, you asked if I had written any stories. This is my first ever story/series. Although I've written a few poems and articles for school, I have never experimented with stories. Thanks and warm regards!

RELISHED RAPPORTS PART 7:
After taking a look at the prize galore, they went back to the main auditorium for the results. The auditorium was brimming with people, finding places to sit. About 1500 people were present. Govindan and Co. found themselves a comfortable place in the 5th row. The crowd was waiting anxiously for the results. Out of hundreds, only 30 were to be selected!! Everybody was panicky and afraid. If their children were not selected, their Australian dreams will be shattered! All the OC food, tourism and shopping gone in a jiffy! Nobody could imagine such a heinous vision! Everybody was at the edge of their seats, biting their nails. Some were walking here and there in tension. What a scene some created!
A Mami was boasting over phone,
"Hey, Komala! You will soon get a sweet box from Grand Snacks! My granddaughter, yes, Shruti, is going to be selected for the competition! Later, after I come back from the Sydney Thyagaraja Utsavam, I will treat you all a dinner at Saravanabhavan. Yes, the buffet for Rs.300!!"

Our hearts skipped a beat too with the number confusions! If Shriya had lost I had half a mind to offer her a Trip to Niagra Falls along with attending the Cleveland competition in 2010
(of course the doting grandparents would be included provided they keep me company!)
Good call by Gayatri!
Congratulations to both Shriya and Hari and we wish them all the best...

You are almost turning shriya as a miss universe contestant in the sense she is being announced last
. Just out of curiosity have you already written the entire script , or do you see how each of us give you feedback and then take your next episode. Am i right to asssume that you have 6 more episodes certainly a good build up till now , more than your story you can be a good screenplay writer . Hope maniratnam spots you , we all need a good movie after shankarAbharanam and sindhu bhairavi based on CM.

Thanks rajeshnat!
I am not that much an expert like you say! I am just a normal writer who writes freely! And, I write only on the days of posting - Wednesday and Sunday. I do not accumulate the episodes and then publish them one by one. I write slowly, based on the feedback, views and entertainment quotient. If anybody feels the series is dragging or nagging, I change my storyline. You all think I am some professional writer! I just write simply! I must thank you all for receiving this so well! I never thought so many of you will like it! Thanks a lot. You people encourage others very well. A good forum with good members. =)
