How do you put kanda chapu and deshadi talams? Please tell me in terms of dhrutam, anudhrutam and laghu.

Chapu talams do not have laghus, drutams and anadrutums.

Nick sir,
Thanks. I am a total zero on the laya aspects. I didn't know how to express myself. How do you highlight talams to others? I mean, in writing? I've seen some kind of symbols like U,O and | for thalams in books. I don't understand what they are.
What are chapu talams? And what are their different types(like misra, etc.)?

The books are really difficult to understand, although some more recent authors have, I think. tried to present the material in a way that is not just a set of baffling definitions.

I think the basics must have been explained here a few times, and a there is growing web coverage of this aspect of carnatic music. Some of the mridangists have taken the trouble to explain the basics, so some browsing of this site and some googling should give you the information that you seek.

Symbols used

| = laghu = a beat + a number of finger counts (eg chatusra jAthi is one beat and 3 finger counts totalling 4)
0 = dhrutam = a beat and wave (2 counts)
U - anudhrutam = a beat (just 1 count as used in jhampa tala)
