Dance costume - Chennai

Hello,
I am planning to go to Chennai from US for getting a few dance costumes and jewelry. I am from Karnataka and been to Chennai couple of times a few years back. I am not very familiar with Chennai. I would like to stay in PondyBazar area. Please suggest a decent hotel wher I can stay. I am looking for a decent clean place (something like BestWestern in USA), not too pricey and not too cheap. And also is there any other dance jewelry store which carries as wide range as Sukra jewellers. I'll be buying 15 sets(for our dance school) so small saving on each set makes it substantial. And also please suggest some Bharatanatyam costume designers/tailors.

For costumes you can try with Ranjana Tailors or Shanthi Dance Needs, Mylapore (near kapaleeshwar temple). If you prefer pure temple jewellery, you can try with "Radha Gold Jewellery", Mylapore, Chennai-04 or If you want Artificial Temple Jewellery(this very cheap comparitively) you can get it from "Vani Gold Covering", Narayanamudhali street, Parrys, Chennai - 01. For best Hotel, it is better to stay near mylapore if you plan for dance shows. You can try Hotel Shelter near Thiru-mylai railway Station, Mylapore.

i really like the first reply the best for tailoring is shanti tailors it's basically a one shop stop because it not only tailors costume it also sells jewellery, cds and dvds (if your interested in music and other dace recitals etc), books and accessories such as flowers. another good jewellery shop is sri devi's in tnagar (where my jewellery came from)

Hello next time try http://www.IndiaMartinUSA.net for dance jewelry in US itself. Currently they only have imitation temple jewelry. They also have costumes, but bit expensive, I think. The bharatanatyam jewelry is good and almost same cost as that of all Mylapore shops.
