"Southern Strings"
Celebrated violinist Lalgudi GJR Krishnan and well-known classical pianist Anil Srinivasan teamed up a few months ago to produce an album for an Italian music distributor. This is particularly significant given the fact that both the violin and the piano find their origins in that country. The journey of these instruments in becoming staples in other classical music contexts is celebrated through their joint concert.
Lalgudi GJR Krishnan, from the acclaimed family of violinists, represents traditionalism and adherence to classicism through both content and technique. Anil Srinivasan is known for his collaborative work with Carnatic musicians, where he manages to frame the music effectively without taking away from its classical moorings.
"Southern Strings" will be held at Dakshina Chitra, East coast Road, organized jointly by the Hayagriva Study Circle Group and Dakshina Chitra. Concert starts at 6:15 and ends at 7:30. Admission Free.
